Autum Straight Jacket wrap iPad, new Macbook Air in luxury

Luxury design brand Autum has created a line of sleekly minimalist leather “Straight Jackets” for the iPad and the new MacBook Air models. Limited in production (first run of only 50), these sleeves are made of dark black leather that has an unusual matte finish. Crafted right here in the States, each piece is unique and made from the best materials the company could find.

The Straight Jacket ($133) is constructed from the aforementioned domestically tanned leather in a semi-rigid, padded design with a suede interior. The Straight Jacket for iPad ships immediately, while Macbook Air pre-orders will ship November 26. Autum accepts orders directly through its website and offers complimentary shipping.

Coincidentally or not, the two most important tablets of 2024 were announced within a couple of weeks of each other. First was the updated Apple iPad Pro, which was announced on May 7, 2024, and began shipping on May 15, 2024. Then, on May 20, 2024, a radically new Microsoft Surface Pro was announced and is expected to ship in June, 2024, carrying Microsoft's new Copilot+ designation.

The iPad Pro received Apple's latest Silicon chipset, the M4, along with a new tandem OLED display. The Surface Pro will be shipping exclusively with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and Windows on ARM. It, too, offers a new OLED display. Which of these two new tablets is right for you?

I ask again: Will Apple ever merge the Mac and iPad?

Every few months, we hear the same argument being made: Apple should bring the Mac and the iPad closer together -- or even merge them and their operating systems completely -- to create some sort of hybrid device that would solve all of Apple’s problems.
