That’s where SmartRazor, a new project currently raising funds on Kickstarter, comes into play. Created by two inventor brothers, Lou and Pete Tomassetti, it’s a razor with heated blades that promises — in the words of its creators — to “slice through hair effortlessly with virtually no tug and pull, like a warm knife through butter.”
“With SmartRazor shaving feels good; you get super performance plus warm soothing shaving comfort at the same time,” Lou Tomassetti told Digital Trends. “The dreaded morning task of shaving now becomes a warm personal grooming moment. It truly is an awesome feeling to shave with SmartRazor. The automatic heated blades stay warm continuously throughout your entire shave.”
Tomassetti said that he and his brother have been in the razor industry for twenty years. “We were drawn to this space because we saw a gap in innovation,” he continued. “Many daily used products were taking advantage of new technologies coming forth, and yet razors seemed not to.”
They certainly set about trying to change that. The unisex SmartRazor is the end result of 12 years of research and development, with 60 patents so far issued and pending in the U.S. and other countries around the world. It’s powered by a single AA battery, rechargeable using a stand, and which keeps the blades heated to a comfortably warm temperature throughout.
After previously showing their invention at the consumer electronics tradeshow CES, its creators are now looking to raise $95,000 on Kickstarter to ship an end product.
