How to make those last-gen Borderlands save files more Handsome for PS4 and Xbox One

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is out, so it’s time to dust off your old PlayStation 3, PS Vita, or Xbox 360 and salvage those save files from Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Gearbox has shared details on how to bring those saves along to the new consoles so you can pick up right where you left off.

Updated on 3-26-2015 by Will Fulton: The loyalty rewards aren’t up and running yet, so Gearbox has shared codes for 25 Golden Keys in each game, listed below.

In order to migrate your saves, make sure you’ve downloaded the latest patches for the older games, which will be available prior to The Handsome Collection‘s release. After the game is up to date, there should be a new option in the main menu for “Cross Save” (PlayStation) or “Cloud Save” (Xbox), then “Upload Save.” Once the file has been copied, load up The Handsome Collection, select Cloud/Cross Save and then simply download. Note that you need the game’s day one patch in order for the feature to work.

Save files can only be transferred within the Xbox or PlayStation ecosystems, not between. PlayStation 3/4 and Vita can all exchange files freely in a triangle (although The Pre-Sequel is not on Vita). Similarly, saves can be transferred between Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Transferred saves bring over all of your character and mission progress, inventory, weapon, cash and other currencies, skins, and items in the bank. Badass Points all transfer as well, but you have to re-spend them, which could be a great chance to re-spec your characters anyway.

Goodies stored in Claptrap’s Secret Stash in Borderlands 2, however, do not go along for the ride, so be sure to move anything you need to your personal inventory or the bank. Golden Keys also don’t transfer, but players can snag 75 new keys along with “a healthy chunk of Badass Rank” and some new weapons or customizations for signing in to 2K’s SHiFT service for the first time with both Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel in The Handsome Collection.

As of Thursday morning, March 26, the loyalty rewards on SHiFT are not working yet. In order to tide fans over, Gearbox has shared codes for 25 Golden Keys in each game on its Facebook page. You can check on the current status of the rewards over at Gearbox’s forum. Restart the game and enter the following SHiFT codes before they expire on March 31 so you can snag some keys and gear up:

Borderlands 2:

  • PS3/Vita/PS4: KTKTT-ZSFWS-R3CHC-9BW33-3JW3H
  • Xbox 360 / Xbox One: CJC33-KHBCW-FHF6Z-C6JTB-F9395

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel:

  • PS3/PS4: 555JT-6TTX5-SFBKT-HTW33-T3F3T
  • Xbox 360 / Xbox One: 555JT-6TTT9-KCFJX-CXT33-T3FBC

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection combines Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel with all of their respective DLC into a single, HD collection for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It arrived for all platforms on March 24.

Woman playing Wordle on her smartphone.

If you've seen those green squares flooding your social media feed or keep hearing your friends and family talk about keeping their Wordle streaks alive, you're probably curious what this game is that has the world hooked. Wordle hit the mainstream in 2022 and has since become part of most people's daily routine. What makes it so addictive is how challenging it can be to solve a puzzle, which makes it important to know the best Wordle starting words or to check out some Wordle answers and hints for any given day's game. Wordle isn't as complicated as Connections, Strands, NYT Crossword, or the Mini Crossword, but it is a little tricky if you've never played it before. I'll go over all the rules and information you need to become a Wordle pro in no time.

I wasn’t a fan of Mario Kart World’s free roam mode until I changed my perspective
Daisy rides a jetski in Mario Kart World.

Long before Mario Kart World was announced, I theorized what Nintendo's next spin on the franchise would be. Mario Kart 8 introduced anti-gravity, and Mario Kart 7 brought us hang gliders, so I was curious what angles were left to explore that would keep the core kart racing experience intact. As we know now, that turned out to be one giant interconnected map that players are free to explore with no boundaries or time limits.

As interesting as that idea was on paper, I remained a little skeptical due to the lack of details Nintendo gave about what exactly I would be doing in this world. The last trailers showed off a few challenges and collectibles, but I wasn't convinced that was enough to justify the new open-world design. My first week with the game only reinforced that feeling. However, I realized my own expectations were at fault -- not the game -- and have come to appreciate Mario Kart World's world for what it is.

3 new PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend (June 20-22)
A crew in FBC: Firebreak.

More and more I am finding myself getting more excited for the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium game announcements than the Essential ones. It always varies, but months like this are some of my favorites. We are getting treated to a day one release, a ton of sleeper hits that didn't get enough attention, and one influential PS2 classic that is great to have available as a PS5 game. Today also just so happens to be the first day of summer, so what better time than now to close the curtains, crank up the AC, and play some great games courtesy of PS Plus? This is my hand-picked selection of PlayStation Plus games you need to play this weekend.
