Gears of War 3 debuts E3 campaign trailer

While the eyes of a good chunk of Europe and the world were glued to their televisions for the Champions League Finals, Microsoft and Epic Games took the opportunity to release a new trailer for the Gears of War 3 campaign during the match. Besides the solid number of brains the trailer will have been beamed into, it probably doesn’t hurt that with E3 just a week and a half away one of the most anticipated games of the year will have a bit of breathing room to show off its new trailer before the floodgates are opened and the video game industry is awash in a sea of info on upcoming titles.

Gears of War 3 concludes the current trilogy, and while there may be (read: almost certainly) more games in the future of the franchise, this outing will answer the majority of questions about the current story arc, including the origins of the Locust and the new threat, the Lambent.

As the trailer below shows, when Marcus Fenix receives a message from his father, it spurs him to go hunting for Dad, who may hold the key to the future.

Gears of War 3 will be released as an Xbox 360 exclusive on September 20.

Minecraft has spent years proving that blocks can run on practically anything with a screen. On October 27, it will finally move into a home built specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. Mojang has confirmed that the native Switch 2 version of Minecraft will launch with Vibrant Visuals enabled by default, using the newer console’s additional power to spruce up its famously square Overworld. Existing Nintendo Switch owners will also receive a digital upgrade path, though Mojang says pricing and other details will arrive later.

The artwork is available now, ahead of the original Xbox’s 25th anniversary on November 15. Microsoft is also giving players a commemorative 25th anniversary profile badge. All you need to do is sign in to your Xbox account through a console, PC, or the Xbox mobile app before the end of 2026 to receive it.

A leaked internal memo suggests the next Xbox console, codenamed Project Helix, could play games from every generation the company has ever released. If true, that would make it the largest game library on any console, especially since it's also said to support PC games.
