Tiger Telematics creators of the Gizmondo gaming handheld, are at it again. As if entering the 2rd round of a boxing match, the Gizmondo will try its jab at the American market, hoping for a knock-out. Apparently blogs and other new sources are reporting that the Gizmondo might be introduced later than originally expected, but Tiger Telematics is standing firm behind their initial launch date of October 22nd. "Contrary to rumors in the marketplace we are not delaying the scheduled USA launch, we are committed to the October 22, 2005 release date, and the product will be available in all 50 states well in advance of the Christmas retail season" says Carl Freer, co-founder and Chairman, Tiger Telematics. What exactly is a “Gizmondo”? It’s a small handheld gaming system powered by Microsoft Windows CE and boasts a 2.8-inch TFT color LCD display, a Samsung 400Mhz ARM9 400MHz processor and a GoForce 3D 4500 NVIDIA graphics adapter. Sounds more like a laptop than a gaming system doesn’t it? The Gizmondo is capable of playing MP3 music, MPG4 movies, can double as a digital camera and supports GPRS networking, and Bluetooth just like your cell phone. The Gizmondo is currently available in the UK from top retailers, and hopes to be a hit here in the U.S. just in time for the holiday season.
