Sony’s Holiday Sale is live, four weeks of discounted games and movies on the PlayStation Store. Each week, a new selection of games and films will be available for up to 65-percent off, with PlayStation Plus members eligible for additional discounts of up to 75-percent.

Through Monday December 8, you can pick up recent hits like Wolfenstein: The New Order for $35 (down from $60) and South Park: The Stick of Truth for $20 (down from $40). There is also a selection of revamped classics like Pac-Man Museum and Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty for $10 off their regular price, or indies like Guacamelee or Dustforce at half price.

Movies in the first chunk of sale items range from classics like the first four Rocky films and The Usual Suspects, a selection of Naruto movies, and the 2008 Hong Kong martial arts film Ip Man (which is worthwhile just for this epic fight), all available for discounts at both standard and high definition. Four seasons of Naruto Shippuden and two seasons of Inuyasha round out the television selection for this week.

All of these discounts are available on the PS Store through December 8. Check out the full list here to see if anything catches your fancy. The next batch of sales will be announced on Tuesday, December 9.

Best PlayStation Plus Deals: Save on Essential, Plus and Premium
Best PS Plus deals

While the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 are excellent consoles, especially for those who don't want to invest in a gaming PC, you tend to lose out on a lot if you don't have one of Sony's online subscriptions. You see, a PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) subscription offers, is access to online multiplayer, and without it, you can't connect to online servers and play with other folks, which is a bit frustrating. Luckily, a PS Plus membership does offer some additional features, such as free games every month and access to some older PS games, all of which depend on which of the three tiers you subscribe to: Essential, Extra, and Premium.
What is PlayStation Plus?
Along with online multiplayer and other in-game network features, a PlayStation Plus Essential membership grants you access to exclusive discounts and other promotions. Perhaps the most notable benefit of PlayStation Plus is that every month, Sony gives subscribers one PlayStation 5 and two PlayStation 4 games that are free to download. You have one month to add these free PlayStation Plus games to your library.

After that, these titles are yours to keep so long as you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. The free-to-download games are generally pretty good (they are often some of the best PS4 games that have been out for a little while), and these alone justify the cost of PS Plus even for people who don't do a lot of online gaming.

sony reveals customizable ps5 dualsense edge controller front and back

In a recent quote, Sony Senior Vice President Naomi Matsuoka said: "Looking ahead, PS5 will enter the latter stage of its life cycle." Many in the industry took that to mean that we may be hearing about the next PlayStation console sooner rather than later.

Considering Sony has yet to break its naming convention, it feels safe to assume whatever future home console we get will be called the PlayStation 6. But not only has the name not been officially confirmed, but neither has the idea of a next-generation PlayStation console or even a PS5 Pro. It's almost a guarantee, but technically nothing is set in stone. Rumors and potential leaks have already started stirring up excitement, so let's see what the future of PlayStation may look like according to the rumors.

A PSVR2 headset on a sky-blue background.

The hype around PSVR 2 has largely died off just a year after its launch, though there's no denying it’s a cool piece of tech.
