With a subscriber base of more than 7.6 million, and the announced merger with Sirius Radio, XM Radio is arguably the mostpopular satellite radio provider available. Infiniti has always been regarded as an adopter of cutting-edge technologies, so today’s announcement should come as no surprise.
All new 2008 Infiniti models will come standard with XM Radio installed rather than being a costly upgrade. As part of the XM deal, certain Infiniti models will have access to XM’s NavTrafficfeature which is a real-time traffic service. The only caveat is that you must have the full vehicle navigation product installed in your vehicle to have access to the XM NavTraffic product.
"Becoming a standard, factory-installed feature for all 2008 Infiniti models is an important milestone for XM," said Steve Cook, executive vice president, Automotive, XM Satellite Radio."Infiniti customers will find XM is a perfect complement to the Infiniti driver’s experience."
If you are a Sirius subscriber, you may be out of luck, and might have to switch your service to XM if you would like satellite radio in your new Infiniti car; at least until the Sirius/XMmerger completes.
