Motorola Droid X2 photos and competing specs surface

droid x2Motorola will finally premiere the successor to the Droid X sometime in the near future. Until then, you can enjoy sifting through full specs and photos of the Droid X2 that a commenter on forum The MobiZone got his hands on. The page originally posted is no longer available, but it’s cached here (although photos will not load).

Check out the specs:

  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4.3-inch QHD LCD display; 540 x 960 resolution
  • 3G (no LTE/4G option)
  • 8-megapixel rear-facing camera (no front-facing camera)
  • Froyo (Android 2.2); it’s possible the phone will upgrade to Gingerbread before launch
  • MOTOBLUR

The Droid X2 is set to launch during the second quarter, and the report definitely lines up with what we heard earlier this year. The CPU and RAM upgrades are probably the most notable features, but can be found in the upcoming Droid Bionic – which is also LTE capable. Engadget, however, is insisting that the specs don’t seem quite right. According to its sources, Motorola will indeed launch a new Droid X (apparently called “Droid X2”) but it’s pared down a bit:

  • 4.3-inch LCD; 480 x 854 resolution
  • 1.2 GHz single-core CPU
  • 768MB of RAM

So now we’re not sure what to believe. Either way, the Droid X has been a popular device for Motorola and a follow up is sure to get some attention.
