Eagerly awaiting the arrival of Oppo’s luxury level Find 7 smartphone? Thanks to global design directory Red Dot, we have a sneak preview of what the mobile will look like, and it’s sporting a refined and minimal style. According to the listing that has appeared online, the mobile will, as rumored, feature a 5.5-inch screen with a whopping 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.

The camera is listed as a 13-megapixel model though, some way short of the 50-megapixel snapper that we had been hearing about from the rumor mill. Either the rumors were wrong or there are multiple models in the works. The front and back of the Find 7 follow a discreet, understated style, and there’s a crescent-shaped “breath light” down at the bottom of the display for alerting you to notifications from the phone and its apps.

If you’re just getting up to speed with the Oppo Find 7 story, the device has been officially confirmed as on the way by its manufacturer, and a launch event is already scheduled to take place on March 19. 4G LTE is expected to be on board, while the Red Dot listing points to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor.

While it’s not a big player in the mobile market, Oppo has raised one or two eyebrows with its quirky and innovative handsets. You may recall the Oppo N1, which includes a rotating camera, rear-mounted touch panel and a modded version of Android. The Find 7’s immediate predecessor the Find 5, meanwhile, appeared in December 2012.

MediaTek just made Wi-Fi 7 a lot more exciting
MediaTek's FiLogic 860 and FiLogic 360 chips.

The next evolution of wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, has been hitting its stride in recent months. Now, MediaTek is giving it a big boost with a duo of new Filogic chips that will power a whole new generation of Wi-Fi 7-capable devices, from enterprise access points and wireless mesh systems to smartphones and set-top boxes.

Unsurprisingly, MediaTek was one of the first chipmakers on board when Wi-Fi 7 made its debut at CES 2022, promising to deliver top speeds more than twice as fast as current Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E technologies. While Wi-Fi 7 is still in its nascent stages — few consumer devices support it, and the spec has yet to receive its final ratification — MediaTek’s second-generation Filogic chips will ensure that smartphones, laptops, and routers are ready to deliver the best of what the new standard has to offer.

For the last week, I’ve been using the Google Pixel 7 Pro again, and for the most part, it was the speedy, attractive, capable, enjoyable, and familiar device I remember.

But over the weekend, I began to think a lot about its reliability, both positively and negatively, and how this is the one word we should all be thinking about when the Pixel 8 series arrives in the very near future.
