Peacock’s Vampire Academy unveils first trailer at SDCC 2022

The first footage of Peacock’s Vampire Academy was revealed at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. Fans received an exclusive look at the opening 15 minutes of the young adult series, as well as a teaser trailer.

Based on the internationally best-selling book series by Richelle Mead, Vampire Academy centers around the friendship between Lissa, a Royal vampire, and her best friend and guardian, Rose. The two girls search for answers about their supernatural bond while navigating romance, politics, and magic at their vampire boarding school. The students also face an impending threat from the Strigo, the group of evil, bloodthirsty vampires outside the gates of the academy who only attack at night.

This marks the second time the book series has been adapted for film or television. A film was released in 2014 starring Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry. However, the film was considered a box-office flop and a critical failure. The television series will feature none of the actors from the movie.

Tomb Raider star Hayley Atwell wants to play Lara Croft again
Hayley Atwell smirks in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning.

The first season of Netflix's Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft may have only just premiered, but its star, Hayley Atwell, is already thinking about her future as its iconic titular heroine. That's inevitable, given not only the character's enduring popularity, but also how The Legend of Lara Croft season 1 ends. The season's finale notably introduces in its closing moments a new conspiracy for Atwell's Lara to investigate moving forward.

For her part, Atwell has made it clear that she wants to keep playing the beloved Tomb Raider protagonist however she can. "To continue to be involved or to be involved in another way with [Lara Croft] would be an absolute dream and also a responsibility I would take seriously given how beloved and known she is …," the actress said in a recent interview with GamesRadar+.

Don Cheadle hints that one troubled Marvel movie could redeem Secret Invasion’s biggest twist
Don Cheadle stands with his arms folded in Secret Invasion.

It's been a long time since Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have seen the real James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle). Last year, Marvel Studios revealed in its poorly received miniseries Secret Invasion that a shape-shifting Skrull named Raava had been secretly posing as Rhodey for an indefinite amount of time. It was later confirmed by Secret Invasion director Ali Selim that Rhodey was originally kidnapped by Raava and her fellow Skrulls shortly after he experienced his spinal injury in 2016's Captain America: Civil War.

This twist proved to be extremely divisive among MCU fans. Many found it disconcerting to discover that — among other things — it isn't really Rhodey who is shown mourning the death of his best friend, Tony Stark, at the end of 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Don Cheadle, however, doesn't seem to mind the twist … so long as Marvel Studios actually follows through on its original plan for Rhodey.

How to turn off subtitles on Disney+
The Disney Plus app interface on a smart TV.

Whether you turned on subtitles on Disney Plus to help your kids remember the words to their favorite songs, or you turned down the volume while watching the new Marvel movie so you didn't wake anyone up during naptime, you may not be sure how to turn them back off. While this can be frustrating, don't panic (and don't cancel your subscription!). Turning subtitles on and off is fairly simple once you know where the option is hiding.

Disney+ is the home of streaming for all things Disney, and includes both new original programming and their classic catalog. Thanks to their acquisitions over the last few years, it's also the streaming home of Star Wars, Marvel, and National Geographic. That means there is plenty here to love for what you pay for the streaming service. The closed captioning option makes it easier to understand what's being said on screen, and is a great tool for anyone with auditory processing issues, but it can get in the way for some viewers.
