Broad City stars reveal 2016 Roots Picnic lineup featuring Usher, Future, and more

Broad City Introduce the Roots Picnic Lineup 2016
The Roots have rounded up yet another impressive group for the annual Roots Picnic. Set to take place at in the group’s native Philadelphia, the summer music festival will feature Usher (backed by the Roots), Future, and Leon Bridges as headliners. The lineup was announced Tuesday in a funny video with Broad City co-creators and stars Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson.

In the video, the ladies have a map of the Festival Pier, where the event will be held, and they create their strategy for catching the many intriguing acts. It’s such a serious operation that they even have a white board and a marker with their photo on it. They’re dedicated to the task, but with so many awesome artists, they can’t help but get distracted occasionally with the chance to talk about how great a musician is or to break into one of their songs. The comedians’ plan of attack has obstacles, too: At some points in the day, acts conflict, leaving them to ponder ways to be in two places at once.

In addition to the headliners, the Roots Picnic will also include a set by the Roots themselves, who have been holding the music festival for the past nine years. Other performers include DMX, Swizz Beatz, Blood Orange, Kehlani, Kaytranada, Migos, Jidenna, Ibeyi, Metro Boomin, and more. It’s a talented bunch, as in years past. At the 2015 picnic, for example, the Roots brought together the likes of The Weeknd, Erykah Badu, and A$AP Rocky, among others.

Tickets go on sale Friday, February 5, as revealed by the official Roots Picnic Twitter account.

The 2016 Roots Picnic will take place on June 4.

How to add family members to your Apple Music subscription
Apple Music Browse screen.

Apple Music is one of the go-to streaming services for all things melodic and melody-adjacent. Hosting over 88,000 million subscribers globally and featuring upwards of 100 million tracks from the leading artists of today, Spotify's nemesis has plenty to love.

If you're a new subscriber, Apple Music gives you a break-in period of one free months of service. After the trial period, memberships are billed on a monthly or yearly cycle with the most popular Individual plan coming it at $11 per month / $109 per year. While that's on par with the average cost for other music streamers, saving a buck here or there is never a bad thing. While college students can get Apple Music for $6/month, another way to save on your subscription is with an Apple Music family plan for $17 per month.

What is spatial audio? The 3D sound experience fully explained
Person listening to spatial audio using Apple AirPods Max headphones.

Since Apple added “spatial audio” to the Apple Music streaming service and the AirPods family of wireless earbuds and headphones in 2021, it feels like you can’t read about new audio products or services without running into that term. And just a few short years later, it’s seemingly everywhere.

This has led to a lot of misconceptions about what spatial audio is, how it works, and why you need to hear it for yourself. People often ask, “If Apple created spatial audio, why are other companies claiming they do it, too?” The answer is that Apple didn’t create it, and you certainly don’t need to own its products to experience spatial audio.
