Plexor Introduces Computer-based PVR

Plextor introduces a simple way to watch, pause, record TV on a personal computer with the ConvertX PVR.

Plextor Corp today announced the ConvertX PX-TV100U Personal Video Recorder, a complete hardware and software solution for watching, pausing, and recording live TV on a PC. Priced at $99.00, the ConvertX PX-TV100U is an alternative to standalone PVRs that more and require monthly service fees.

Users simply plug a cable, satellite, or antenna into the PX-TV100U’s built-in TV tuner, and then use High Speed USB 2.0 to connect to their computer. The PVR uses high quality real-time video compression software to record TV programs to hard disk, CD, or DVD in formats such as MPEG-1/VCD, MPEG-2/DVD, or DivX video. The PX-TV100U can also capture from a camcorder, VCR, or DVD player through composite and S-video connections.

The PX-TV100U comes bundled with SageTV Lite PVR software (with a free Electric Programming Guide), as well as Ulead VideoStudio SE DVD for video editing and DVD authoring.
