When a press release vows to take “consumers to the edge of wonder and beyond,” it’s hard not to be at least curious — especially when that boastful bit of PR-speak comes from Samsung’s official announcement of it’s 2011 product showcase, which is currently on display in New York City.

The showcase includes a wide range of Samsung products, including new TVs, notebooks, cameras and some nifty odds and ends.

First up is Samsung’s line of 44 new HDTV models, which come in the LED, LCD, plasma, 3D and Internet-connected smart variety. Of those, three quarters will have access to Samsung’s Smart Hub interface, which includes a full web browser, a “recommendation engine” and the Samsung Apps marketplace.

To add to their Smart TV user experience, the company also introduced its new QWERTY flip remote, which comes with the D7000 and D8000 HDTVs, or as an separate accessory with the HDTVs in the D6300 line and up.

For the 3D TV user, Samsung has a new line of 3D glasses, as well as a 3D “starter kit” that includes two pairs of 3D glasses, a Blu-ray 3D version of Dreamwork Animation’s Megamind and the complete Shrek collection.

In terms of laptops, Samsung delivered heavily for the professional sector, with Series 2, Series 4 and Series 6 laptop lines. Both the Series 2 and Series 4 lines will come in the 12.5- and 14-inch variety. While the 12.5-inch Series 2 will be powered by an Intel Celeron processor, the 14-inch, as well as both Series 4 models, will pack a Sandy Bridge Core CPU. (The Series 4 has i3, i5 and i7 Sandy Bridge chip options. The Series 2 only comes with the i3 CPU.)

The Series 6 line includes 14- and 15.6-inch models, each available with either i3, i5 or i7 Core processors. Resolution for the Series 2 and Series 4 clock in a 1366×768, while the Series 6 has a 1600×900 option. The Series 6 graphics card is also boosted to an Nvidia NVS 4200M GPU. All version comes with a durable external casing, metal hinges and 1.3 megapixel webcams.

Loaded with a Sandy Bridge Core i5 processor, 128GB SSD, 4GB of RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium, the Series 9 laptop costs $1,649. (A $1,699 Windows Professional version is also available.)

Other products announced at this year’s showcase include 4- and 5-inch Galaxy Players (right), media devices that are similar to the Galaxy S phone but without the 3G connectivity. Both sizes run Android 2.2, and have access to the full Android Marketplace.

Also included is the SH100 compact digital camera with Wi-Fi connectivity, and the updated NX series of cameras, which are mirror-less and are accompanied by five new interchangeable lenses.

Did that take you to the edge and beyond?

Surfshark CleanWeb merges ad blocking and a VPN to stop hidden digital horrors
Surfshark CleanWeb combines a VPN and an ad-blocker for maximum privacy

While one could argue that internet browsing has never been anonymous or completely safe, there's no argument against the point that it's getting worse. Intrusive advertisements, corporate and e-commerce trackers, traffic tied to your home IP address, and phishing scams are just a few of the major headaches waiting for you when you browse. It's device-agnostic, as well. You'll be tracked and bombarded no matter what your device is, from a smartphone to a desktop computer. Worse yet, the tracking jumps between platforms in most cases, which is why you often see advertisements on social media and other websites for products you've viewed in the past. A VPN or virtual private network can help, but it won't stop everything. That is unless you use Surfshark CleanWeb, an excellent and more comprehensive online tool than free ad blockers and most comparable solutions. It blends the support of a powerful ad blocker and a VPN to give you some of the best coverage out there. Let's explore further, and we'll also discuss how you can save over 80% on one-year and two-year plans and get two months free.

What can Surfshark CleanWeb block?
Forget about intrusive ads and pop-ups on your devices — the Surfshark ad blocker stops them. It can also prevent annoying video ads on smart TVs, repeated cookie requests and pop-ups from your browser(s), and more. For example, once installed, Surfshark's CleanWeb 2.0 browser extension can warn you to prevent you from visiting malware-filled fake websites and protect you from hidden website data breaches.
