As first looks go, the latest trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier is pretty much exactly what a fan would want to see. Plenty of Cap (Chris Evans), plenty of Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford doing their S.H.I.E.L.D. thing, some banter with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and the launching of a full-blown fleet of Helicarriers. There’s even a brief snippet of the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) taking flight and a bunch of freeze frame-worthy Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) moments.

The story in Winter Soldier picks up two years after the events of The Avengers, with Steve Rogers making a go of trying to live on as a man out of time. Of course, that would make for a pretty boring action movie, so it’s not long before terrible things happen and Cap must suit up once more. Marvel Studios hasn’t been very forthcoming about the plot for this one, though fans of the comics may have some ideas based on the film’s title and main characters.

The Marvel movies haven’t mirrored the comic book stories directly, but they draw a lot of inspiration from the printed page. Anyone familiar with how Winter Soldier fits into Captain America’s story in recent years… well… this second big-screen solo outing for the Captain promises to be a significant one.
