Eight’s Smart Mattress combines comfort, technology for a better night’s rest

Eight, a technology company founded in 2014 and based in New York, is focused on improving the way people sleep. To that end, it just launched a revolutionary way for people to get some shuteye: a smart mattress. The smart mattress is designed with four layers of high-density foam and a technology layer that tracks your sleep, adjusts temperature independently on each side, and connects to other smart devices.

The company’s first product was the Eight Sleep Tracker, which is being used by 12,000 people across 67 countries. To date, it has tracked more than 1.8 million hours of sleep data, giving Eight a unique understanding of what makes good sleep. They used the data to understand the materials and types of mattresses that give people the best sleep.

eight_smart_mattress_4Eight’s CEO Matteo Franceschetti said, “Based on our research, we saw an opportunity to create a better mattress. So we designed one with a unique blend of four responsive and high-density foam layers that provide optimal comfort and support, plus one layer of our proprietary technology that helps people track and improve their sleep.”

The new smart mattress can connect through a mobile app to smart devices such as your thermostat, lights, and coffee makers. It also features a number of sensors to track tossing and turning, breathing rate, sleep time, and sleep quality, as well as your bedroom environment including the bed and air temperature. All of this data is analyzed to create sleep patterns and suggestions for improving your sleep on the bed’s mobile app.

The bed is available in full, queen, and king sizes starting at $950, with free shipping to U.S. customers. The company is offering a 100-day trial period with free returns so prospective buyers can try the mattress for 100 days without commitment.
