Droid 4 rumored for February 9 release, priced at $199

Motorola Droid 4 - CES 2012The subject of many leaks before its quiet CES 2012 official announcement, the Motorola Droid 4 has still not been given its shelf date or its selling price.

Initially believed to launch in December, Verizon didn’t share any firm information on when the phone would go on sale during the CES event, however a source has informed Droid-Life.com that the wait is almost over.

According to the site, the Droid 4 will be yours to buy on February 9 and will cost $199 with a two-year contract, matching the recently reduced Motorola Razr.

The Droid 4 has also popped up on the official Droiddoes.com website, where it’s still listed as “coming soon”, however if it really is coming next Thursday, then anyone who has signed up for an email notification should be getting some good news soon.

The newest addition to the QWERTY-sliding Droid family has 4G LTE connectivity, a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, a 4-inch touchscreen with a 960 x 540 pixel resolution, 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording. Motorola also has an extensive accessory range for the phone, including a laptop dock.

As standard, the Droid 4 will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread as its operating system, although Motorola has said an update to Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming at a later date.

While you’re waiting for final confirmation of its release, you can read our hands-on impressions of the Droid 4 here.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
