Microsoft Releases Streets & Trips 2006

Microsoft today announced they were releasing the latest incarnation of their Streets & Trips software. Known as Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006, is available with an included GPS device for$129 or standalone for $39.95.   Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 offers several new features for users. Voice prompted directions work with theGPS device attached to a laptop computer to provide turn by turn driving instructions. A driving guide pane displays text-prompted turn by turn directions and distance to location measurement bymiles and yards. There’s also a night viewing mode for easier map reading when traveling at night or on dark roadways.   Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 offers more than 5.9 millionmiles of routable maps and 1.8 million points of interest.   "With fuel costs on the rise, it’s never been more expensive to make a wrong turn," said Helen Chiang, product manager forMicrosoft Streets & Trips. "New features such as voice-prompted directions and advanced GPS options make Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 with GPS Locator the travel companion that alwaysknows the way, saving valuable time and money."
