US Modular, a maker of computer related products, yesterday announced a new universal portable battery which can run many notebook computers or DC-powered devices. The new PowerAid is priced at $99 and should be available in early April.
The PowerAid, said US Modular, includes 10 connectors in an adapter kit to fit most laptops as well as an automotive accessories style adapter to power cell phones, PDAs, laptops and other devices while on the road. Features include a LED power indicator, Lithium-ion powered and a charging time of five to six hours with the AC charger.
“The PowerAid was designed after a long business trip where I found myself constantly untangling power cords for presentations and when my cell phone went dead, which carries all my files; I knew that US Modular could produce a better way to power-up,” said US Modular CEO Nick Payzant, in a statement. “The PowerAid will be the first of many advancements in battery technology that we hope to produce this year.”
