If you like living on the edge, you really can’t take your iPad with you. Surviving sub-zero temperatures, dealing with sand, and functioning underwater aren’t really the iPad’s forte, so to speak. Snow Lizard is known for its insanely rugged iPhone cases and now it’s adding a new iPad case to the mix, called the SLXtreme. This super durable case fits the fourth-generation iPad only, though.

The SLXtreme iPad case is made of a hard polycarbonate – ABS plastic shell with shock absorbing panels built into the back. Snow Lizard says the SLXtreme is MIL-Spec 810G graded, so it can survive drops from 6 feet above. The case can even protect your iPad under 6 feet of water because of its IP-68 certification. Neither sand, nor sleet, nor small hail can damage your iPad while its inside the SLXtreme case – at least, that’s the claim.

In addition to all this protection, the SLXtreme case can also charge your other devices when you need it to. The company added a massive 10,200-mAh battery and USB-out to keep the iPad and all your other devices charged while you’re out in the wilderness. The case is VESA mount compatible, too, so you can mount it onto a compatible stand, anywhere you want, whether it be on your speedboat or your tree stand. The case comes in black or yellow, and costs around a pricey $200.

Of course, most people don’t need an iPad case that’s quite this heavy-duty, but the SLXtreme case could be very useful to avid campers, boaters, hunters, or other outdoors enthusiasts who like to get off the grid now and then.
