4G HTC Desire 610 coming to AT&T on July 25, and it’s yours for $200 without a contract

A promotional page for the HTC Desire 610 has shown up on AT&T’s website, telling us the mid-range Android smartphone is coming soon to the network. This isn’t a complete surprise. At the end of last month, a picture showing the phone running a selection of AT&T-only apps was leaked, pre-empting this week’s announcement.

The Desire 610 first appeared on the scene back in February, when HTC revealed it at Mobile World Congress, and it subsequently went on sale in parts of Europe. AT&T will be the first network to sell the phone in the U.S., and according to a tweet from HTC USA, it’ll be yours to buy on July 25.

It’s all set to be great value, and will cost just $200 without a contract on AT&T’s GoPhone prepaid service. The announcement comes on the same day as Verizon added 4G LTE support to its Allset prepaid scheme, where the almost identically specced LG Lucid 3 is on special offer for the same price.

How about the Desire 610’s specs? For your cash,  you get an Android 4.4 KitKat operating system with HTC Sense and Blinkfeed over the top, all displayed on a 4.7-inch screen. The resolution is a slightly disappointing 960 x 540, but the processor is a speedy 1.2GHz, quad-core Snapdragon 400, accompanied by 1GB of RAM. An 8-megapixel camera is fitted to the plastic rear cover, while a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera should be adequate for everyday selfies.

The Desire 610 will connect to AT&T’s 4G network, and the spec list also includes a MicroSD card slot to boost the 8GB internal memory, Bluetooth 4.0, a 2040mAh battery, and HTC’s BoomSound speaker system.

While HTC has revealed the launch date already, AT&T is still only suggesting interested buyers sign-up for more details, but with less than 10 days to go before it’s on sale, you probably won’t have to wait very long before getting the chance to buy one.

Someone holding the Honor Magic 6 RSR outside.

There's no doubt that 2024 has already been an exciting year for Android phones. Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
