LG’s G Pad 8.0 hits Europe shelves first, and it has LTE

LG’s mid-range G Pad 8.0 with LTE connectivity may soon come to a store near you. LG announced that it will start selling the 8-inch G Pad in Europe today, with sales in Central America, South America, Asia, and more markets to follow.

The Korean company recently released three middle-of-the-road G Pad tablets in a range of sizes. We reviewed the 7 and 10.1-inch G Pads last month and found them to be solid devices, despite the lower screen resolutions.

The G Pad 8.0 has mostly the same specs as LG’s other recent G Pad tablets. It has the same 1280 x 800 pixel screen resolution, but this time it measures 8 inches diagonally instead of 7 or 10.1.  It’s powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. LG added 16GB of internal storage to the tablet, which also offers a MicroSD card slot for expansion. The 8-inch G Pad also has a 5-megapixel back camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as a massive 4,200mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat.

The G Pad also features LG’s signature Knock On feature, Knock Code for added security, as well as the ability to multitask with two apps open at the same time.

This version of the G Pad 8.0 will have LTE capabilities in addition to the standard Wi-Fi connectivity. Its mid-range specs and decent performance make it an ideal tablet for budget shoppers in emerging 4G markets. LG will start shipping the tablet to customers in Europe this week and to all the other markets listed above starting next week.
