Want to creep everyone out? This selfie stick looks like a human arm

If you need to convince people that you have more friends than you really do, or simply want to creep out those around you when visiting popular tourist spots, it looks like the Selfie Arm could be the smartphone accessory you’ve been waiting for.

As its name cleverly suggests, this innovative smartphone attachment is a selfie stick that incorporates a fiberglass arm and hand instead of an extendable rod. What do you mean, “That sounds a bit weird”?

The creation of artists Justin Crowe and Aric Snee, the fake body part lets selfie snappers grab shots that look as if they’ve been taken by someone else.

The pair describe their “lightweight and portable” prototype as offering “a direct commentary on the growing selfie stick phenomenon, and the constant, gnawing need for narcissistic Internet validation,” though you might also want to call it “a ghoulish-looking attachment guaranteed to frighten small children while at the same time keeping the area around you clear of people.”

At this stage, you may not be surprised to learn, there are no plans to commercialize the Selfie Arm, though if they do, it’s possible the bizarre contraption could provide a way around recent bans placed on its more conventional counterpart by tourist sites and big events around the world.

Someone holding the Honor Magic 6 RSR outside.

There's no doubt that 2024 has already been an exciting year for Android phones. Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
