Countdown to Love: Judd Apatow’s new Netflix comedy gets release date, teaser

You won’t be able to use Judd Apatow’s new series Love to “Netflix and chill” on Valentine’s Day this year, but the upcoming comedy is hitting the streaming service shortly thereafter. Netflix announced the TV show’s premiere date Monday as well as released the first-look teaser, according to Deadline.

Love stars Paul Rust and Gillian Jacobs as Gus and Mickey, a very different duo. Gus is described as the “nice guy” and Mickey the “brazen wild-child,” yet they explore love (hence the title), intimacy, commitment, and more throughout the series. The comedy comes from Apatow, Rust, and Lesley Afrin, who teamed up as its creators, writers, and executive producers. Brent Forrester and Dean Holland also executive produce.

The teaser doesn’t give us a look at Rust and Jacobs in action, but it does provide a look at the brand of humor we can expect from the series. In it, viewers are shown a number of resolutions for 2016, ranging from the usual suspects (e.g., “Be grateful” and “Stop judging”) to the non-traditional (e.g., “Be less insane,” “Have more sext,” and “Get a weed card”). Based on what we’ve seen so far, it seems safe to say that Love will be candid and edgy, plus have its fair share of non-kid-friendly moments.

The series, which got at least a two-season commitment early on, will be available on Netflix on February 19, with the entire 10-episode first season being released at once. With half-hour episodes, Love seems likely to get viewers binge-watching.

The official Netflix Twitter account announced the news of the show’s release date and shared the teaser, writing, “You had me at ‘fix breath issue.'”

Netflix debuts first teaser trailer for Cobra Kai season 6
The cast of Cobra Kai.

Netflix has grand plans for the final run of Cobra Kai, including the longest season to date with 15 episodes. But the downside of that news is that Cobra Kai season 6 is being split into three parts, and the last batch of episodes is being held back until 2025. In the meantime, the first teaser trailer for Cobra Kai season 6 has arrived. And while the trailer is light on story details, it's good to see the students of Johnny and Daniel's combined dojo training together again.

According to Netflix's official synopsis for the final season, the story picks up after Cobra Kai's dojo and franchises have been eliminated from the Valley. Now, Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen have to decide whether they will send their students to compete in the Sekai Taikai, which is "the world championships of karate."
