Fortnite challenge guide: Choose a character to be Lovely’s Valentine

One of the last challenges you’ll likely go for during Fortnite’s season 5, week 11 is choosing a character to be Lovely’s Valentine. This week’s challenges are all Valentine’s Day-themed, meaning you’ll have to run around the map, completing love-related errands for the game’s NPCs. After you’ve finished the challenge for collecting all three chocolate boxes, you’ll unlock the ability to go for the one for choosing a character to be Lovely’s Valentine.

The challenge description is sort of cryptic, as it doesn’t explain how to choose a character to complete it. In this guide, we’ll walk you through what you need to do. Here’s how to choose a character to be Lovely’s Valentine in Fortnite.

What you need to do for this challenge is simply talk to any of the NPCs around the map. That’s it. After you’ve collected the three chocolate boxes during stage one, visit any of the NPCs around the map and talk with them to make your selection. The map above shows all the locations of the various NPCs in the game (thanks, Fortnite.gg). So land at one of the less populated areas and find the NPC you like.

For the purposes of simplicity, we chose to visit Farmer Steel at the Steel Farm, just east of the Colossal Coliseum. Though, you can choose whichever NPC you’d like. Walk up to them and you’ll be prompted to give them a card, so press Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, or Y on Nintendo Switch to interact with them. Once you do, you’ll earn 20,000 XP and complete the challenge.

We recommend attempting this in Team Rumble, as you’ll be able to respawn if you get killed before talking to an NPC. It’s certainly doable in Battle Royale, but if you aren’t confident in your abilities, Team Rumble is the way to go. It’s also a good idea to coordinate with your team so they can watch your back as you go for the objective.

It’s also smart to go for an NPC that is sort of out of the way. Typically those around the edges of the map are less likely to attract other players — particularly if you fly in the opposite direction of the Battle Bus as it comes in. Though, even if you come across another player, you can quickly run up to the NPC and interact with them before you get taken out.

If you’ve been following along with our guides, this should be one of the last ones you’ll need to complete.

Fortnite is coming back to iOS, but Epic Games still isn’t happy about it
Solid Snake aiming a pistol out of a box in Fortnite.

Fortnite is set to come back to iOS in Europe sometime in 2024. This will mark the first time a natively running version of Fortnite will be available on iOS since Apple removed the game from the App Store in 2020.

Apple did so at the time because Epic tried to use its own third-party payment system, kicking off a series of legal battles in an attempt to get Apple to open up its platform more. Although those legal battles have yielded mixed results for Epic, a newly passed Digital Markets Act in the European Union is forcing Apple to do things like "allow third parties to inter-operate with the gatekeeper’s own services in certain specific situations" and "allow their business users to promote their offer and conclude contracts with their customers outside the gatekeeper’s platform."

All Charms and Trinkets in Lego Fortnite
A lego character holding a basket with a fruit.

Most things in Lego Fortnite are grounded in reality -- well, as much as they can be in a game where you are a little Lego man running around collecting resources and building entire villages by yourself. You slowly accumulate better gear as you craft new items and upgrade your existing facilities so you can venture further out and face tougher challenges.

There's some equipment that works a bit differently, namely your Trinkets and Charms. These little doodads can be crafted as you collect specific resources, they come in a range of rarities, and all of them give your character a specific buff that can be placed on your armor to add to your character. There's a lot of them out there to find and craft, so we've cataloged all the Charms and Trinkets in Lego Fortnite and what they do.
