DoorDash delivers voter registration forms straight to your doorstep

We understand that services like Seamless have made it difficult to actually get off your couch to order your food, so for a generation dedicated to as little movement as possible, there’s a new voter registration process all its own.

Well, it’s actually not new — it’s just so painfully easy that you actually no longer have a single excuse as to why you didn’t exercise your civic duty. In this year’s historic presidential election, companies across industries are doing everything they can to get out the vote and get voters to the polls, and that now includes DoorDash, which has partnered with Rock the Vote “to do our part to raise awareness about the importance of voting — by making registering to vote as easy as ordering tacos on-demand.”

That’s right, getting your voter registration form is now as easy as ordering dinner. As DoorDash announced in a blog post on Tuesday, “Today, in honor of National Voter Registration Day, residents in select DoorDash markets will be able to “Dash the Vote” and receive a local voter registration form delivered to their doors, on-demand.”

This packet promises to include everything you could possibly need to prepare yourself for this November — you’ll receive a state voter information packet, the national voter registration form, and a stamped envelope to mail the form back to your local election office. All you have to do is log on to the DoorDash app (or site), visit the “Dash the Vote” store, then order a registration form in much the same way you would order anything else.

“In 2008, more than 6 million Americans missed out on the opportunity to vote because they missed a registration deadline or didn’t know how to register,” DoorDash wrote in its blog post. Companies like Google are ensuring that access to information is not a problem this cycle, and now, DoorDash is ensuring that the physical act of registration isn’t an issue either.

“We’re proud to be making voter registration more accessible to thousands of people, while teaming up with Rock the Vote as a corporate civic responsibility partner to educate, inform, and drive turn out at the polls,” the company said.

Even if you’re not living in an area where “Dash the Vote” is available, you’re still able to go online and fill out a digital voter registration form. You can do so by checking out the widget at the bottom of the DoorDash blog here.

“Every voice matters and we want to hear yours loud and clear,” the delivery company concluded. “No matter how you fill out your form, we hope you take the time to register to vote today and make your voice heard this November.”
