Motorola Honeycomb tablet pics and specs

Remember that Motorola tablet Google’s Rick Rubin showed off at the All Things D conference last week? You know, the one running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb)? Well, a guy named wnrussell leaked some pictures of the device all over the Internet, revealing a few new specs about it as well. Notably, it’s already Verizon branded, will have a dual-core processor, and front/rear dual cameras. Feast your hungry eyes below.

More pictures can be found at the bottom of this post. Here is what we know about it so far (according to rumor). It will feature 32 GB of internal memory, 5 MP camera on the back, 2 MP front-facing camera, 1280×800 pixel touchscreen, 1 GHz main processor, Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 dual-core graphic processor, 512 MB of RAM, 10 inch multi-touch screen, 3G and faster LTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a Micro SD slot for up to 32 GB more storage. Not bad.

Most exciting is the graphics processor, which will go a long way toward providing a smooth interface, ala the iPad, and powering high-quality games and apps. Again, these are only rumors, but they are reasonable stats for a device of this kind. What do you think? Does this look comparable to an iPad?

The Pixel Tablet could be the iPad killer I’ve waited years for
A render of the front of the Google Pixel Tablet.

You can build all the great hardware your heart desires, but if the software isn’t optimized for the hardware, the product will fail. This has been the story of almost every Android tablet since the inception of the segment. Samsung has built its DeX mode to make its Galaxy Tab tablets more productive, and it works to some extent, but it’s not available across the lineup.

OnePlus Pad is the latest entrant in the Android tablet space, and the launch yet again emphasized the glaring issues of app optimization problems for big Android screens. This is why Google’s upcoming Pixel Tablet could be the make-or-break point for the Android tablet category. And that makes me more excited about the Pixel Tablet launch at Google I/O 2023 than anything else.

The next iPad could ditch the headphone jack too
The Apple Pencil attaches to the iPad mini magnetically.

Apple is rumored to be upgrading the regular iPad later this year with new internals. Though an earlier leak suggested that the tablet would follow the same design language as its predecessor, a set of freshly leaked renders hint toward a design refresh. These renders have been published by MySmartPrice and have been attributed to CAD files sourced from a case maker.
