Motorola’s Moto G200 is coming to China in January 2021

Motorola officially launched the Moto G100 in March 2021 and released it in the United States in July. Now, the successor to the device — the Moto G200 — has been unveiled . The phone has been internally code-named “Yukon/Xpeng.” The new smartphone is expected to be launched in China as the Moto Edge S30 and be available for sale in January 2021.

Motorola’s upcoming device will have a plastic unibody, with a 6.8 inch LCD full HD+ display featuring an impressive refresh rate of 144Hz. This is much higher than the Moto G100’s refresh rate of 90Hz. The Moto G100’s Snapdragon 870 5G chipset will also receive a more powerful upgrade, with the G200 expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 888 processor. It will feature 8GB RAM and either 128 GB and 256 GB of storage.

Motorola has ditched the telephoto camera for this model. The front selfie camera in the hole-punch cutout at the top will have a resolution of 16 megapixels and be powered by an OV16A1Q sensor, which has been used in devices such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9Pro and the Moto G60. The primary camera is the impressive S5KHM2 108MP sensor from Samsung, while the ultrawide camera lens is a macro sensor with a resolution of 8MP. The third and final rear camera is a 2MP depth sensor from OmniVision.

The battery capacity will be a decent 5000mAh with fast charging of 33 watts. The 3.5 mm headphone jack has been removed. A single speaker and IP52 safety rating are also among the phone’s features.

The phone will feature with the Android 11 OS, with the possibility of one Android update and security patches. The Moto G200 is expected to arrive in two color variants: Stellar blue and glacier green. It will cost $509. Further details are expected soon.

New Motorola Razr 2023 leaks show the colorful flip phone we need
Four side-by-side shots of the Moto Razr 2023. A new red coloway is visible.

There are only a few major names in the game if you're looking for a foldable smartphone, but the name with the longest pedigree is probably Motorola. Leaks of the new Moto Razr have emerged on Twitter, and while they show relatively little of the phone, it does show off a new outer screen personalization feature – and a new, bold red colorway.

The leaks come courtesy of seasoned tipster Evan Blass (who has a private Twitter account), and he refers to it as the "Motorola Razr 40 Ultra", further fueling speculation that Motorola may release multiple versions of the Razr this year, including a more reasonably priced Razr Lite. As an "Ultra", it would make sense for these leaks to show the more expensive, flagship version of the device and, as such, likely includes features that wouldn't be available on a "Lite" version.

Moto G Power 5G adds a flagship feature to a budget phone
Render of the Motorola Moto G Power 5G in a white color against a light purple background.

Motorola may be making a play for the flagship market with the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, but budget phones are what the American monolith is best known for. While it won't be making as many waves as the latest Samsung phone or Apple iPhone launch, the newest iteration of the Moto G is always something worth paying attention to, as Motorola is a true veteran of the space and knows what makes an excellent cheap device.

Best of all, this new Moto G comes at a time when budget phone enthusiasts have never had it so good. Previously premium features are filtering down into lower-priced devices, without altering that sweet low price or the features everyone loves. That's exactly what's happening with the new Motorola Moto G Power 5G, which includes a 50-megapixel main camera lens, a larger amount of storage, and a big screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. With the big 5,000mAh battery the G Power range is known for, this could be the $300 phone to grab if you love a budget bargain.

Moto G Play (2023) serves up a smooth screen and big battery for just $170
Motorola Moto G Play 2023's official render.

Motorola has a new ultra-affordable phone on offer, and this one serves up a few perks usually seen on higher-end phones. The latest budget warrior from the company is the Moto G Play (2023) — a phone that only costs $170 and will be sold unlocked by Amazon, Best Buy, and Motorola starting January 12.
The most striking aspect of the phone is its screen. You get a modern-looking 6.5-inch display with palatable bezels and a small hole-punch cutout at the top that houses the selfie camera rather than an eyesore waterdrop notch.

The resolution has been capped at HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels), which isn't surprising for a phone in this price bracket. However, Motorola is adding some pizzazz courtesy of a smooth 90Hz panel, a convenience Apple doesn't offer on the iPhone 14 despite asking $800 for it.
Another notable aspect of the Moto G Play (2023) is the battery size. Motorola has armed it with a 5,000mAh battery that is claimed to last up to three days. Those are rather generous figures, but given the phone's modest internals, it will easily go past a day.
The phone is powered by MediaTek's Helio G37 chip, paired with a modest 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Thankfully, you can expand the storage by popping in a card of up to 512GB capacity.
