Verizon confirms $30 unlimited data plan for iPhone

Verizon has confirmed that its version of the iPhone will have another feature no longer offered on AT&T’s model: an unlimited data plan. Lowell McAdam, Verizon’s chief operating officer, told The Wall Street Journal that his company will offer the data plan for $30 per month with no data restrictions.

“I’m not going to shoot myself in the foot,” McAdam told the Journal, referring to Verizon’s decision to offer the unlimited data plan. AT&T, Verizon’s soon-to-be iPhone competitor,  stopped offering an unlimited data plan option last year — although existing customers were able to retain their unlimited data plans.

It’s already known that Verizon’s iPhone will support wireless tethering for up to five devices. AT&T currently only offers tethering capability for an additional $20 monthly fee.

AT&T’s iPhone has an advantage in that it can perform voice and data functions simultaneously. Verizon’s iPhone only can perform one function at a time.

The iPhone 4 can’t come soon enough for Verizon. The company announced today revenue figures that left Wall Street underwhelmed. Verizon will launch the iPhone 4 on February 11.

The iPhone 17 Air might not stack up in terms of battery life
Alleged concept render of the iPhone 17 Air in black.

Concerns over iPhone 17 Air battery life might have been spot-on, according to a new report from The Information. Apple allegedly conducted internal tests that showed only 60 to 70 percent of iPhone 17 Air devices would make it through the day without needing a recharge, versus between 80 to 90 percent for other iPhone models.

Of course, part of that is due to the design of the handset. At just 5.5mm, the iPhone 17 Air is set to be the thinnest iPhone ever (and one of the thinnest phones on the market overall), but it might come at the cost of battery capacity. To help offset this problem, Apple is supposedly planning to launch an optional battery case accessory to give users a little bit more juice to get them through the day.

The Galaxy S25 Edge, which Samsung teased earlier this year, will arrive on May 13. When the phone launches, it’s expected to be one of the thinnest smartphones in the world.

iPhone prices are increasing, but not for the reason you think
Apple Invites on iPhone.

The average sales price of iPhones is increasing, but it isn't for the reason you think — or at least not entirely for that reason. According to new data from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the average price of an iPhone has increased by $18 to $971. That's up from $953 in the fourth quarter of 2024.

While many are quick to point to tariffs as the cause, the impact of economic factors isn't clear yet. The current trend towards higher-priced iPhones lies entirely in Apple's recent decision to end the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 lines. Analysts use metrics like the U.S. Weighted Average Retail Price (US-WARP) to determine the average sale price, since Apple stopped publicly reporting those numbers at the end of 2018.
