Aaron Paul is involved with a cult in new trailer for Hulu’s upcoming drama The Path

Aaron Paul’s characters just can’t stay out of trouble: The Breaking Bad star has a new series on the way, and this time, he’ll be mixed up with a cult instead of drugs. Hulu has released a trailer for the upcoming drama, and there are clearly problems ahead for Paul’s character, Eddie.

Nothing too crazy happens at first. Cal (Hugh Dancy) opens the trailer by asking Eddie what he found when he came to the cult, and Eddie says, “home.” It sounds nice, but then Cal’s fear-centric messaging comes through quickly thereafter: “The future is coming. Poverty, political instability, terrorism. Everything we know will collapse.”

Over the course of the series, we’ll see how the cult impacts the lives and the beliefs of Eddie, his wife, Sarah (Michelle Monaghan), and their kids. The preview shows clear signs of conflict, from Sarah telling Eddie he has been distant, to their son getting involved in a fight at school. That’s not the worst of it; the trailer gets much darker as still more ominous things happen. Over the course of the preview, we see a woman hooked up to a very unsafe-looking device, a snake crawling on a man in a hospital bed, and someone who literally has blood on their hands.

Paul set a pretty high bar for himself with his Emmy-winning Breaking Bad performance, but The Path definitely looks intriguing. In addition to starring in the upcoming series, he voices Todd Chavez on Netflix’s animated series BoJack Horseman, a show he also executive produces. Paul’s upcoming projects include multiple films, including Triple 9, Central Intelligence, and Come and Find Me.

The Path is created by Jessica Goldberg, a Parenthood producer; she’ll executive produce the new Hulu series alongside Jason Katims and Michelle Lee of True Jack Productions.

The Path will be available on Hulu on March 30.

If you have to watch one Hulu movie in May 2024, stream this one

It's a new month, and that means new movies on Hulu. And somebody over there really loves Tom Hanks. Because in this month alone, Hulu is adding Hanks' directorial debut, That Thing You Do, one of his most iconic films, Big, and one of his most recent hits, Elvis. But if we had to choose only one Hulu movie to stream in May 2024, then our pick is another Tom Hanks movie: Cast Away.

Robert Zemeckis directed the film from a script by William Broyles Jr. It cast Hanks as Chuck Noland, a FedEx employee who survives a plane crash in the Pacific ocean, only to find himself stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere without anyone to turn to but himself. Cast Away was actually a big hit in late 2000 and during the early part of 2001, earning $429.6 million worldwide. That may not have translated into Oscar gold for two-time Best Actor winner Hanks, but Cast Away is an unforgettable film that deserves a new audience nearly 24 years after it hit theaters.
