Sony’s New Camera Comes With a Photo Album

Sony’s new Cyber-shot DSC-N1 not only features 8-megapixels of goodness and a large 3-inch touch screen display, but it also has a new photo album mode which stores up to 500 pictures in VGA resolution and lets you show them off in a slideshow mode complete with music and transition effects – all running straight from the camera. "Since the introduction of compact cameras with large LCDs, people have increasingly been using their cameras to not only capture moments, but also share and show them immediately on the LCD screens," said James Neal, director of digital imaging products at Sony Electronics.   What may be probably the coolest feature of this camera is its overall size. While slightly larger than say a Casio Exilim camera, the Cyber-shot DSC-N1 is capable of taking up to 270 shots per charge and with a shutter lag of only nine milliseconds. Other cool features include MPEG-VX mode which lets you record MPEG video at 640×480 resolutions at 30 frames per second. Pictures and movies are stored on the optional Memory Stick PRO Duo media card.   The 3-inch LCD display on the back uses touch screen technology so you can access the menu and settings by simply pressing the screen.   The Cyber-Shot DSC-N1 will be sold with an MSRP of $500 dollars and will be available in mid-November.
Kodak announced last week the introduction of their EasyShare One camera which also uses a touch-screen display. You can read that article here.

It's a fun little addition, and it's one that adds a lot of personality to the Photos app.
