2012 Lexus LFA

While you might not think to rank Lexus among the elite makers of exotic sports cars, the introduction of the 2012 Lexus LFA just might warrant a place.

It would appear that Lexus has gone out of their way to cultivate an air of exclusivity around the 2012 Lexus LFA ; the production of the car will be limited to 500 worldwide (with 46 in North America as of today),  the cost of the vehicle is prohibitively set at $375,000 and with Lexus reporting they will be selective about whom they will sell the car to — with car collectors and VIP’s among that fortunate few (surprising considering Lexus will lose money on each unit sold) the 2012 LFA will not be an easy car to add to your garage.

But let’s say you manage to wrangle a set of keys from Lexus, well, you’ll be getting an exotic 6- speed sequential transmission, front-engine, rear-wheel drive coupe with carbon fiber composite making up most of the chassis and body. The LFA weighs in at 3263 lbs and features a 4.8-liter V-10 that produces 553 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.

But alas, even if you can’t get your riding gloves wrapped around the wheel of this exotic beauty, at least you can look at the pictures above.

Lexus will reinvent its design language as it electrifies its full line

Lexus and parent company Toyota pioneered gasoline-electric hybrid technology more than two decades ago, but both have been reluctant to release a fully electric model. This policy is set to change during the 2020s, and Digital Trends learned Lexus plans to offer an electrified variant of every nameplate in its lineup by 2025.

The term "electrified" is broad; it refers to a number of different technologies. "We include hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric, and fuel cell in our strategy," revealed Koji Sato, the vice president of Lexus, during a media event. Which model will get which type of powertrain will depend on a variety of factors, including market demand and packaging constraints.

The 10 best car battery brands in 2024
How to test a car battery

You must know this, but your car needs a battery to run properly. A dead battery means a car won't start, but various electronics in the car won't work properly either, including overhead dome lights, the radio, and even some security features, like door locks or alerts. So, it's in your best interest to ensure your vehicle's battery is in tip-top shape at all times. It's especially important if your car or vehicle sits unused for long periods. A trickle charger can help keep the battery powered in those situations, or worst case, a portable jump starter can help you get it going. But eventually, you're going to need to replace your battery, and it will help to know the best car battery brands out there so you know precisely what to replace your old one with. Let's discuss.
AC Delco
In operation for more than a century, AC Delco has been recommended as "the only batteries" for GM vehicles. You'll find them at retailers like AutoZone, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Amazon, and even some Walmarts. They're reliable, reasonably priced, and come with a good warranty, 18 months or above, depending on where you buy. A great AC Delco battery to call out is the Advantage series.

Bosch
Bosch is a solid mid-grade battery provider both in quality and price. They do have some affordable options, but their premium lines are still reasonably priced, with several tiers available for a wide variety of vehicles. The downside is that Bosch batteries are not carried by all retailers like some of the other options on our list, but you can find them online. You can also visit a Bosch service center if there's one near you. Callouts are the S4 to S6 series and the T4 to T6 series. We will say the brand's four-year free replacement warranty is unmatched.
