LaCie Debuts Biggest Quadra 4-Drive RAID

Got a lot of video? Or a lot of anything? LaCie's new Biggest Quadra four-disk RAID offers four high-speed interfaces and capacities up to 4 TB.
Accessory and peripheral maker LaCie has announced its new Biggest Quadra RAID, appealing to video and media production folks and other creative professionals who have a lot of data they need to work with on a regular basis. The Biggest Quadra RAIDs support four internal drives, and offer four high-speed interfaces (FireWire 400, FireWire 800, USB 2.0, and eSATA) to make sure you can push your bits anywhere you like.
"Taking the best in interface and disk technology, the quiet and compact Biggest Quadra is the most universal and powerful RAID system available," said , LaCie Solutions Business Unit Manager Olivier Mirloup in a release. "It offers incredible capacity and speed, as well as data redundancy security to creative professionals. The Biggest Quadra is ideal for professional multi-stream audio, photo libraries, desktop publishing, video storage, and backup."
LaCie’s Biggest Quadra supports RAID 0, 0+1, and 5, along with 5+hot spare, letting users pick their own configuration matching security and capacity. In the event of a drive failure, inserting a new drive will automatically rebuild data without any loss of time. The Biggest Quadra ships with EMC Retrospect backup software, and offers plug-and-play, driver-free installation.
The Biggest Quadra will be available in 2, 3, and 4 TB configurations; the 2 TB version will land in September for $1,099, with the 3 and 4 TB versions coming in October for $1,599 and $2,199 respectively.
