Starbucks has an emoji keyboard, so send a Frappuccino with that smiley face

starbucks emoji keyboard app news

Starbucks has been at the forefront of high street technology innovation for a while, but its latest app release may turn out to be its most popular. It’s a keyboard app, which features Starbucks-themed emojis. That’s right, forget little emoji poo, or that face that may or may not be a scream, now you can say it with a frosty Frappuccino.

The app is available for iOS and for Android, and includes two pages of Starbucks related emoji, and a custom keyboard option presented in Starbucks colors and font. The emojis include images of all your favourite Starbucks drinks — all in takeaway cups though, no mugs here — along with the logo, a storefront, and various emoji folk holding Starbucks drinks.

Install the app on iOS and you’ll need to add it to the active keyboard list under settings, then grant it full access to use throughout the phone. Then it’s activated using the globe key on the standard keyboard’s bottom line. It operates with iMessage, on Facebook, in WhatsApp, and elsewhere. Like most other third-party keyboard apps, when you select an emoji it doesn’t simply appear in the text, but is copied to the clipboard ready for pasting.

On Android it’s a similar mission. After installation, activate it under Language & Input in Settings, then make sure it’s selected as the standard keyboard. From here, it sends the emoji as images through various apps, rather than placing them inside messages. In our quick tests, the app is more stable and usable on iOS. However, neither system is ideal, but if you want to send someone a joyous Starbucks emoji, you’ll have to jump through a few hoops.

Starbucks promises it will continue adding content to the app throughout the year, so expect more coffee-related emojis very soon.

iOS 18 could add a customization feature I’ve waited years for
iOS 17 interactive widgets on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

iOS 18 is coming later this year, and all signs point to it being a dramatic iPhone update. Now, thanks to one new report, it looks like iOS 18 could add a customization feature I've been waiting years and years and years for: better home screen customization.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, iOS 18 will introduce a "more customizable" home screen. More specifically, iOS 18 will allow you to place app icons and widgets anywhere you want. If you want a space or break between an app icon or your widget, welcome to the future: iOS 18 may finally let you do that. MacRumors corroborated this report with its own sources, too.

My iPhone’s keyboard is driving me crazy
Words displayed on an iPhone's screen in the Notes app, with the keyboard below them.

Abe, Ann, Anne, Anna, Ana, Ave, AB’s. These words are the bane of my life, as all too often my iPhone thinks I'm typing them instead of the word “and.” It happens shockingly often, to the point where I begin to think it’s doing it deliberately to troll me.

I’m an iOS keyboard fan, but it’s getting to the point where I’m going to have to make a big change unless Apple does something about it.
It’s always the word 'and'
