Here’s a look at Iron Man’s new gear in Avengers: Age of Ultron

We’ve already caught glimpses of several versions of Iron Man’s armor in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but a new, hyper-detailed toy figure created by Hot Toys offers our best look yet at the latest iteration of wearable tech that Tony Stark will don in the team’s upcoming adventure.

Judging by the photos of the Mark XLIII armor posted to Facebook by Hot Toys, the standard armor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) doesn’t appear to be that much different structurally from the armor he wore in Iron Man 3 (officially known as “Mark XLII,” of course) though the color scheme has been reversed for the new suit. Given that Tony enacted the “Clean Slate Protocol” at the end of Iron Man 3, however, the origin of this new armor should certainly play a role in the story — as well as the origin of the crushed “Ultron Mark I” that accompanies the figure.

The 1/6th scale figure is described as follows:

The movie-accurate Mark XLIII Collectible Figure is highly detailed and specially crafted based on the image of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Mark XLIII in Avengers: Age of Ultron, featuring a newly painted Tony Stark helmeted head sculpt, metallic red, gold and silver armor with weathered effects, LED light-up functions, and a specially designed diorama base with a damaged Ultron Mark I. A special edition will be available for selected markets which includes a LED lighted battle damaged helmet as bonus accessory.

The sequel to 2012’s record-breaking blockbuster The Avengers and the penultimate chapter in Phase Two of Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe, The Avengers: Age Of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015.

You can see a few images of Hot Toys’ Mark XLIII armor figure below, and find out more information about it on the toy company’s Facebook page.

Richard Browning’s teenage sons don’t think that what their dad does is especially cool. That’s okay. Most teenagers feel the same way about their parents. But most teenagers don’t have a dad whose homemade, Guinness Record-breaking jetpack suit makes him perhaps the closest thing the world has to a real-life Iron Man.

“I used to drag [my sons] out at weekends to mess around with the latest prototype,” Browning told Digital Trends. “Often, [these demos] weren’t particularly spectacular. Sometimes they wouldn’t even get off the ground.”

What Avengers: Endgame means for Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
the best action movies ever iron man tank

It's no secret that Avengers: Endgame has left the Marvel Cinematic Universe looking quite a bit different than it did a few years ago -- particularly with regard to some of the MCU's most dynamic and popular characters.

While some major characters are poised to take on new roles in the post-Endgame MCU, or serve as mentors to the next generation of Avengers (and Guardians of the Galaxy, for that matter), others have had their story arcs seemingly brought to an end. As any comics fan will attest, though, nothing is ever permanent in the world of superheroes -- and popular characters always find a way back into action.
