Razer taking preorders on Starcraft II peripherals

Gaming equipment manufacturer, Razer, has finally released a line of products intended specifically for Blizzard’s real-time strategy game StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. The company announced the new peripherals over a year ago and showed them off at E3, but is now taking pre-orders on a mouse, a keyboard, and a headset all designed for the rabid StarCraft aficionado who can’t imagine waging intergalactic warfare with mere terrestrial hardware.

The Razer Spectre StarCraft II Gaming Mouse is aimed at players seeking to add a little finesse to their warmongering. It features a lightweight design with a five-button fingertip grip. The mouse also promises to give players visual feedback through Razer’s Actions Per Minute (APM) Lighting System, which updates players on their performance and game conditions directly through multi-colored LEDs located on the mouse. The mouse will sell for $79.99.

The Razer Marauder StarCraft II Gaming Keyboard also makes use of the APM-Lighting System to enhance players’ experiences. The keyboard claims an optimized key “travel distance” to shorten player response times as well as an “on-the-fly macro recording system” to let players switch between profiles without interrupting gameplay. The keyboard is priced at $119.99.

But wait StarCraft fans, there’s more! A specially designed headset, dubbed the Razer Banshee, awaits StarCraft’s more audio conscious players. A sound isolation system will allow players to focus on game sounds with minimal outside distractions. The headset also features the APM-Lighting System, but it’s not immediately apparent how players will be able to actually see the headset’s LEDs that will be on players heads and, presumably, out of direct sight. The headset will sell for $119.99.

Razer is currently taking pre-orders for all three devices now and expects to start shipments sometime next month.
