Samsung Series 5 Chromebook: Hands-on pictures

It’s finally here: The Samsung Series 5 Chromebook. With its stark white chassis and sleek, petite build, Google’s Chrome OS notebook emobodies its minimalist intentions. Stripped free of software and your typical laptop storage system, the Series 5 is a mere 3.3-pounds of Web-optimized goodness that relies entirely on 3G and Wi-Fi connections. Its full-size QWERTY keyboard and 12.1-inch LED display bring some familiarity to the thus-far foreign device. One thing’s for sure: Opening up the Series 5 and seeing what should be a desktop peppered with file folders and program icons replaced by the Chrome browser is an unsettling experience – but one you might just be able to get used to. Given its extreme portability, speedy processing, and undeniable good looks, we’re at least willing to give the foremost in cloud-computing a try. We won’t judge a book by its cover, but we’re sure happy to take it for a spin.

Binance opens transactions after historic crypto heist ‘north’ of six billion dollars

Binance has replaced most of the stolen cryptocurrency, but customers are already withdrawing billions from the exchange.

Binance has started allowing cryptocurrency withdrawals again after losing $6.3 billion worth of digital assets in one of the biggest crypto heists so far.

For those catching up, the $6.3 billion theft reportedly took place in around 20 minutes on October 29, following which Binance suspended withdrawals across several networks.

For years, Amazon has been working to become the go-to place for online shopping. But what happens when shoppers don’t have to go to Amazon at all? That's the question as AI shopping agents start to change the way people discover, compare, and buy products. And while Amazon builds walls, some of its competitors are going for a different strategy.

In a report from The Wall Street Journal, Amazon swiftly shut down Meta’s new Muse AI shopping agent from being able to purchase items on its platform, citing safety concerns. Meanwhile, Walmart and Shopify have struck deals with Meta, buying into Muse. The contrast could hint at a seismic shift in online retail, where the next fight might not be over who has the best shopping website, but which platform AI agents decide to patronize.

Entry-level MacBook Pro could get its overdue design overhaul next year

You might want to hold off on the new M6 MacBook Pro, as its successor could offer a substantially different design.

Apple recently unveiled the new entry-level MacBook Pro with an M6 chip, alongside the touchscreen model, which the company is calling the "MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display." The entry-level model does have some upgrades besides the chip, like a longer battery life and a 12MP Center Stage camera system, but it completely missed out on many of the core design overhauls that the premium model carries. That said, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has reported that next year's model will come with a redesign similar to the OLED model.
