Monty Python reunites for animated Graham Chapman biography

Despite the slightly inconvenient fact that Graham Chapman has been dead for more than 20 years, he and four of the five remaining members of Monty Python will reunite for a 3D animated film based on Chapman’s recorded memoirs, A Liar’s Autobiography: Volume VI.

According to DigitalSpy, the film will feature 15 animated segments, and include Cleese, Gilliam, Jones and Palin lending their voices to different people from Chapman’s life. The material is taken from unreleased home recordings made shortly before Chapman became the ex-Graham Chapman in 1989. Which makes sense, as the recordings would likely be far less entertaining if he had recorded them after his death.

Although the picture will discuss Chapman’s time as a Python, the movie will be based on his life in total. Gilliam will play Chapman’s mother, while Palin will play his father. The other roles will be split amongst all four Pythons.

“I had no idea until recently that Graham Chapman is in fact dead – I thought he was just being lazy. However, I am now delighted to find myself working with him again on this exciting project,” Jones wrote in a statement.

No word on why Eric Idle is not part of the project. Idle recently appeared with fellow Python John Cleese in Shrek the Third.

The film is due out in theaters next year.
