How to evolve Bisharp into Kingambit in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Bisharp has been the dark-steel darling of the Pokémon series since its initial release in fifth-generation Pokémon Black and White. An excellent attacker with a unique typing, Bisharp has been at the forefront of many competitive teams and casual gym-challenge squads over the years.

With the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Bisharp is back in the spotlight because it has a brand new evolution — Kingambit. Check out Kingambit's Pokédex entries from both games:

Only a Bisharp that stands above all others in its vast army can evolve into Kingambit. Though it commands a massive army in battle, it’s not skilled at devising complex strategies. It just uses brute strength to keep pushing.

How to evolve Bisharp into Kingambit

Evolving Bisharp into Kingambit isn't super complicated, but it is a very unique process. Like the Pokédex entry reads, you're going to have to prove that your Bisharp is a step ahead of others in the wild.

Step 1: Evolving Bisharp into Kingambit requires a special held item called Leader's Crest. This item can only be found held by a wild Bisharp that is surrounded by Pawniards, which can only be found in the bamboo thicket in North Province (Area Two).

You'll need to go to this area to fight and capture one of these Bisharp to obtain the Leader's Crest. You can keep this item on the caught Bisharp or transfer it to another Bisharp (say, if you've raised a Pawniard since early-game) for the rest of this process.

Step 2: Now that you have a Bisharp holding Leader's Crest, you'll need to defeat three other wild Bisharp holding Leader's Crest. Just wander around North Province (Area Two) to find other Bisharp surrounded by Pawniards and defeat them in battle.

Step 3: When you've defeated the third leader Bisharp, your Bisharp will evolve into Kingambit immediately following the fight.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s series of post-launch content finally wrapped up on January 11 with the release of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero's epilogue. Now, having played through it, I find it to be a fittingly odd end to one of the weirdest generations of the Pokémon series ever.

Instead of adding some grand endgame challenges to overcome, this is a story-focused epilogue about a Pokémon that is brainwashing and controlling people through mochi. It’s a cute and comedic horror riff that gives entertaining final moments to the friends players made throughout the main game and DLC’s adventures. Despite that, it’s underwhelming and still subject to the technical problems that have plagued Pokémon Scarlet and Violet since launch.

The DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was always known to be two parts: The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk. That said, not every question will be answered even after finishing the final bit of content in the latter DLC. Thankfully, GameFreak is giving us one last reason to return to Paldea to wrap up our adventure for good. This epilogue is totally free and even brings in one last Pokemon to catch called Pecharunt, but it is a little tricky to start. This short little challenge includes a few new fights, meeting up with some old friends, and wrapping up the story, so let's close this chapter of our Pokemon adventure.
How to start the Mochi Madness Epilogue

You can't start the epilogue until you've beaten all the main content of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as well as both DLCs, The Teal Mask and Indigo Disk. So long as you've done that, once you boot up the game, you must collect the Mythical Pecha Berry. Instead of just finding or being given this item, you need to claim it as a Mystery Gift through the Poke Portal. Select Mystery Gift -> Recieve Via Internet and then choose the Mythical Pecha Berry Gift.

After all the new monsters added in the base game, plus the returning favorites and legendaries added in the DLC, one last creature to catch was added to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in thefree epilogue. Pecharunt is all that stands between you and a fully completed Generation 9 Pokedex, but will you be able to catch it? So long as you know what to do, you are guaranteed to add this final pocket monster to your roster. Here's how you can catch Pecharunt in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How to catch Pecharunt

After you've started the epilogue storyline, simply proceed through the new main quest as directed. Near the end of the game, you will face off against one last trainer. Upon defeating them, you will be forced into a battle with Pecharunt. Don't be alarmed that you can't catch it during this fight! You're intended to fully KO Pecharunt in this encounter. Once it's HP is zero, you will be instructed to catch it with a Pokeball from Kieran. At this point, choose whichever ball you like and go for the catch. It's a guaranteed capture, so no need to worry about it breaking free.
