The first full trailer for Syfy’s upcoming movie Sharknado 2: The Second Ones has arrived online, and it just goes to show you that no matter where you go in this world, and no matter how famous you are, there’s always a chance that you’ll become lunch for an airborne shark.

The sequel to last year’s viral hit, Sharknado 2 brings the seemingly never-ending battle against meteorological phenomena infested with oceanic predators all the way across the country to New York City, with returning characters Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) helping the Big Apple defend itself against yet another shark-filled tornado. This time around, they get some help from characters played by Vivica A. Fox and Mark McGrath, as well as a long list of celebrities who make cameos in the film, including Kelly Osbourne, Judd Hirsch, Judah Friedlander, Matt Lauer, Andy Dick, and Perez Hilton.

The new trailer debuted on Fandango, where there’s also a very funny video recap of the first film that’s worth watching even if you’ve already seen the 2013 feature that captivated the online world for some mysterious (but wildly entertaining) reason.

Naturally, with a film like Sharknado 2, awareness of the underlying continuity of the franchise is an important element in understanding the subtle nuances of the narrative, so you should probably get up to speed on the history of sharks and the tornadoes that carry them when you have the chance. You don’t want to be the only person at a Sharknado 2 party wondering about Fin’s motivations and what drives him to be the shark-fighting, chainsaw-wielding hero that he is.

Sharkado 2: The Second One premieres on Wednesday, July 30, at 9pm ET on Syfy.

5 great Bill Skarsgård movies you should check out
Bill Skarsgård as the Marquis de Gramont standing with his hands in his pockets in John Wick Chapter 4.

Bill Skarsgård is more than just a very handsome face. In fact, he is among his generation's most interesting and arresting performers,  a modern scream king known for his tendency toward playing intriguing and elusive characters in intense and often dark films. This year, Skarsgård is set to dominate with three high-profile releases — Boy Kills World this April, The Crow in August, and Robert Eggers' highly awaited horror film Nosferatu in December.

If the wait is too unbearable for you and you want to see more of the talented actor's work, I suggest you check out the 2022 miniseries Clark, one of Netflix's best miniseries, featuring Skarsgård's best and most charming performance to date. However, if you're more into movies, then be sure to check out these five films where Skarsgård showcases his mesmerizing talent and versatility.
