Who needs a PC? Lenovo’s new 13-inch Windows Yoga Tablet 2 can do it all

Lenovo introduced a slew of new Yoga tablets in the beginning of October and now it’s got one more to show us: the 13-inch Yoga Tablet 2 with Windows. Lenovo says this tablet can do it all — it’s got an Intel Atom processor, large Quad HD screen, and more ports than your average slate.

Lenovo’s customers like to watch movies on their tablets, so every device in the Yoga Tablet line comes with a built-in stand that can recline to support the tablet at any angle or even hang on the wall, thanks to hole in the kickstand. Lenovo already offers an Android version of the 13-inch Yoga Tablet 2 and the Windows version has the same 13.3-inch Quad HD, IPS screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

An Intel Atom Processor Z3745, running at 1.86 GHz, powers the new tablet, along with 4GB of RAM. Although the Yoga Tablet 2 ships with Windows 8.1 onboard, users will of course be able to upgrade to Windows 10 when the new OS becomes available to all users. Since it’s made for watching movies, the new Yoga tablet comes with 64GB of built-in storage that is expandable via MicroSD card up to 64GB. Lenovo added 2x large-chamber speakers and a JBL subwoofer, along with Dolby Audio and Wolfson Master Hi-Fi sound. Lenovo claims the 12800mAh battery will last up to 15 hours, even if you’re watching videos. We expect that time might be cut shorter when watching high-resolution movies.

In terms of connectivity, the Yoga Tablet 2 features 802.11a/b/g/n Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth® 4.0, and a bunch of connectivity ports. There’s a Micro HDMI, Micro USB, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroSD card along the back of the device. Most tablets only offer Micro USB and Micro SD ports, so the Yoga Tablet 2 is a step up in that regard. The camera, however, is just as pathetic as it is on most tablets — There’s only a 1.6-megapixel HD camera on the front of the device. That’s not too big of a deal though, as it’s unlikely you’d take pictures with a 13-inch tablet anyway.

The Windows Yoga Tablet 2 weighs 2.27 pounds and measures 324.1 x 221 x 3.7-14 millimeters. There’s also a keyboard accessory for those of you who want to ditch your PC now that you’ve seen this tablet. Would-be buyers will find the device on sale in November on Lenovo’s website starting at $700.
