Apparently obtained from a Nokia laboratory in China, the phone shares a similar design to the Lumia 1020, complete with an oversized camera lens housing on the back, suggesting another whopping sensor is hidden inside. The source of the pictures says the camera will have an even higher pixel count that the 1020, possibly reaching a massive 50 megapixels.
Additionally, a next generation LED flash could replace the xenon flash used on the 1020, which depending on its performance, may upset dedicated PureView fans. Other possible specifications include a 5-inch, 1080p screen, and an aluminum body shell. The processor isn’t known, but 2GB of RAM is possible. Windows Phone 8.1 is the operating system installed on the leaked device.
The possible release of a new PureView phone is exciting, and it’s likely Microsoft is planning to continue the line in the near future, but there’s no proof this will be it. The “Microsoft Mobile” markings show it’s a recent device, and it could be this is the phone codename McLaren. However, Microsoft reportedly shelved the 3D interface expected to be a primary selling point, and the hardware may have suffered the same fate.
So far, Microsoft has released the Lumia 535 without Nokia’s supervision, but more new phones are expected during Mobile World Congress in early 2015. Could the Lumia 1030 be among them, and will it look like this leaked phone? We’re sure to find out more over the coming months.
