Digital pinball developer Zen Studios revealed that a pair of tables based on the animated television series Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy will arrive for its multiplatform pinball sims in the coming months.
The tables will launch as part of the upcoming “Balls of Glory” Pinball Pack for consoles and PCs, and will appear as standalone apps on mobile platforms.
Zen Studios frequently produces digital pinball games based on popular licenses, which are then ported to its compilations across consoles and mobile devices. The studio releases tables under its Pinball FX 2 banner on PCs and Xbox platforms, while the series assumes the name Zen Pinball 2 on PlayStation consoles, the Wii U, and iOS and Android devices.
In the past, the company has developed dozens of digital pinball tables based on Marvel’s licensed characters, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Wolverine. Tables are available for purchase either individually or as part of themed packs.
Zen Studios recently tackled the Star Wars franchise with tables produced as part of its “Balance of the Force” and “Heroes Within” packs. The studio also develops tables inspired by video games like Plants vs. Zombies, Ms. ‘Splosion Man, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.
Film and television licenses have proven lucrative for makers of real-world pinball machines, and Zen Studios followed suit earlier this year with a pair of digital tables based on the Comedy Central animated series South Park. The upcoming Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers tables mark the studio’s latest work within the realm of licensed cartoons.
Premiering in 2011, Bob’s Burgers follows the off-kilter exploits of a misfit family who lives in the burger restaurant that patriarch Bob owns and manages. Family Guy, an edgier comedy that was famously canceled and then resurrected years later, was created by Ted director Seth MacFarlane. Both shows are still on the air, and Bob’s Burgers was recently renewed for two new seasons.
Release dates for Zen Studios’ Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy tables were not announced.
