With Fallout 4 fast approaching, we love to get our hands on anything that can slake our thirst in the meantime. In anticipation of the November 10 release date, Bethesda has released its own emoji keyboard for iOS and Android mobile devices. There are over 60 Fallout icons and animated Vault Boy GIFs for you to annoy your friends with.

The free app also features the familiar series font for texting, and the message bubble’s background color can be changed.

As expected, the system gets its own self-explained acronym: C.H.A.T., or the Communications Hub And Transfer.

We were pleased to find our old friend Dogmeat among the icons. Also worth a mention are the mini nuke, Pip-Boy, brahmin, Brotherhood of Steel helmet, Giddyup Buttercup, and of course Nuka-Cola.

We were particularly fond of the radioactive poop. As you will be.

Among the animations are Fallout perks, including a deliciously graphic display of cannibalism. If you need to put your buddy aside for a moment, you can send the an archetypal Please Stand By GIF, complete with static.

fallout-emoji-keyboardWe downloaded the keyboard and messaged an old friend. It’s a fun little app, but the implementation may bother some. To send a message, you type and/or tap the icons you want to send. You choose a preferred background color (it defaults to black) and then tap on “Ok!” You would think that this would send your message, but what it does is copy it. You must then paste and send the message in the text box.

The process takes a few steps, but it enables you to create custom messages.

The Fallout C.H.A.T app is available for download through the iTunes and Google Play stores. Fallout 4 will launch next week for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

The Zenfone 9 looks like the small 2022 flagship you’ve been waiting for
The Asus Zenfone 9 in all its color options.

While it may not have sold in massive numbers like the Samsung Galaxy S22 series and the iPhone 13, 2021's Asus Zenfone 8 did garner everyone’s attention for a single reason: Its rather diminutive size. Thanks to its 5.9-inch display, the Zenfone 8 was roughly the same size as the likes of the iPhone 12 and the Google Pixel 5. It was only slightly bigger than the iPhone 12 mini as well. While the Zenfone 8 received praise for its small, lightweight form factor and its excellent camera, it suffered from poor battery life, screen responsiveness issues, and the lack of support for wireless charging.

Now that it’s been well over a year since the release of the Zenfone 8, it was about time for Asus to come up with a successor. If we are to believe the folks over at TechGoing, the Asus Zenfone 9 is on the verge of being announced. The Hong Kong-based publication just released a video of the Zenfone 9 that not only showcases the design aspects of the upcoming phone, but also sheds light on the key hardware specs of the device.

Are Technics’ hi-res EAH-A800 the Sony XM4 alternative you’ve been waiting for?
Man wearing Technics EAH-A800.

When it comes to noise canceling wireless headphones it's pretty hard to beat the Sony WH-1000XM4, but Technics is going to take its best shot a doing so with its EAH-A800, a new set of wireless cans that it debuted at CES 2022 and that will hit stores in March for $350 in black and white/silver.

The key to Sony's success with the WH-1000XM4 is their combination of great sound quality, great active noise cancellation (ANC), great battery life, and wired/wireless hi-res audio chops thanks to Sony's LDAC Bluetooth codec. It's not surprising that these same attributes are also high on Technics' bragging list for the EAH-A800. In fact, Technics might even surpass Sony's performance in these areas.
