Alexandra Daddario is returning to the silver screen with her San Andreas co-star Dwayne Johnson. The actress has been cast as Summer in the Baywatch movie, Johnson announced on Instagram today. She’s the first of the female leads to be cast so far, but The Rock shared that more announcements are coming soon.

As Summer, Daddario will fill a role originally played by Nicole Eggert in the ’90s TV series. The character appeared on the show in seasons three and four, serving as a love interest for Matt (David Charvet). Summer also had a lot of personal drama going on; she arrived in California to escape her mother’s abusive ex-boyfriend and also dealt with an eating disorder.

Daddario was among the actresses rumored to be in consideration last week. The list also included Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson, former Vampire Diaries leading lady Nina Dobrev, Teen Wolf‘s Shelley Hennig, and more. Johnson and Zac Efron are currently set as the male leads.

Daddario responded to a welcome tweet from Johnson, assuring him that she’s already practicing the slow motion running the female Baywatch lifeguards were so famous for.

In addition to San Andreas, Daddario has also appeared in the first season of HBO’s True Detective, and guest starred on the TV series White Collar and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, among others. She most recently filmed the movie The Layover and will next be seen in The Choice.

The Baywatch movie will be directed by Seth Gordon, with Johnson and Dany Garcia producing through Seven Buck Productions. Beau Flynn and Montecito Pictures are also producing, with Michael Berk, Douglas Schwarts, and Greg Bonnan serving as executive producers.

The Baywatch movie is expected to begin filming in early 2016.

A WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) is heading to Lyon Metropolis for the first time for WWE Backlash France 2024. Since the formation of TKO in September 2023, WWE has prioritized global expansion. In 2024, Backlash France is the second PLE to be held outside the U.S., and it won't be the last. Five of the next six WWE PLEs will take place outside the U.S.

Heading into Backlash, WWE is entering the "American Nightmare Era." After finishing his story at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes is now the Undisputed WWE Champion. A different era means a new crop of challengers for Rhodes. First up is AJ Styles, a former two-time WWE champion. Rhodes must bring his A-game if he wants to walk out of France as champion.

If you have to watch one Star Wars movie this May the 4th, stream this one
Luke looking off into the binary sunset before dying in The Last Jedi.

Every Star Wars fan has a favorite movie, and many Star Wars fans also hate at least one of the entries in one of their favorite franchises. That can make the exercise of choosing the perfect Star Wars movie to watch on May the 4th difficult. For all of the love this fan base has shown to the franchise over the years, it's also a fan base that has strong opinions about why one movie or another is worthy of your time.

This May 4, though, I'd recommend watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Almost undoubtedly the most controversial entry in the saga, one that makes some people furious and others jump for joy, The Last Jedi is worthy of your attention, whether you like what it's doing or not. Here are three reasons you should check it out:
