The biopic centers on the emotional four days between the assassination of the beloved President John F. Kennedy and his burial, as reported by Deadline. President JFK was assassinated in Dallas on November 22, 1963 with Jackie at his side, and was buried in a state funeral at Arlington National Ceremony on November 25, 1963.
The film also stars Greta Gerwig as Jackie Kennedy’s aid, Peter Sarsgaard as President Kennedy’s brother Robert, Max Casella as Jack Valenti, and Beth Grant as Ladybird Johnson. John Hurt, who previously worked with Portman on V for Vendetta, will also appear in the film.
Larrain is directing Jackie based on a 2010 Black List-selected screenplay from Noah Oppenheim. Darren Aronofsky is producing with his Protozoa Pictures partners Scott Franklin and Ari Handel, Fabula Films’ Juan de Dios Larrain, and LD Entertainment’s Mickey Liddell. LD and Bliss Media will co-finance the film with Protozoa Pictures.
“Pablo is a masterful filmmaker, the cast is top notch, and we are thrilled to be working with him and our producing partners,” said Liddell in a statement. Larrain previously received an Oscar nomination for his 2012 Chilean drama film No. Jackie will be his first feature film in English, according to Deadline.
Other upcoming films for Portman include Terrence Mallick’s Knight of Cups, Jane Got a Gun, and On the Basis of Sex in which she’ll play Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
Jackie, which is currently filming in Paris, doesn’t yet have a release date but IMDB notes it will come in 2017.
