Roku is introducing three models, priced to sell at $59.99, $79.99 and $99.99. Each model supports HD streaming and includes built-in wireless. The $79.99 and $99.99 models support 1080p streaming — a feature not seen in the $99 Apple TV.

All three models support playback of a growing collection of channels such as Amazon Video on Demand, Netflix streaming, MLB.tv, Pandora and more. Additionally, you can copy videos onto a hard drive or keychain drive and attach them to the USB port on the Roku XDS.

The lineup is going head to head with Apple TV, the Boxee Box and Google TV. Roku is hoping to entice customers to its newest units which are even smaller than previous models. While we haven’t gotten our hands on these new models to directly compare them, Roku has at least one clear advantage over Apple TV. Roku allows you to view a variety of  third-party content channels, while the Apple TV is limited to the content partners Apple has coded right into its box.

The new Roku boxes will be available on the company’s Website starting Thursday morning.

Here’s a not-so-secret secret about tech companies: They discuss all the things all of the time. Good ideas. Bad ideas. Good ideas that turn out to be bad. Bad ideas that, surprisingly, turn out to be good.

Philo home page.

Are you considering cutting the cord on your cable TV to save some cash? With the rise of streaming services, it seems like that may not be as cost-effective as it once was. These days, you can find many channels on streaming platforms that could cost you as much as your cable subscription and internet service.

Do you need all those channels? Philo, a TV streaming service, begs to differ. It competes with TV streaming options like Sling TV and provides a more budget-friendly choice without sacrificing access to live television.

A Lionel Messi promo for MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

If you're a soccer fan who hasn't yet taken advantage of MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, now's the time. Apple — and Lionel Messi — are offering a free one-month trial to the service that gets you every MLS game this season and then some. There are no blackouts, no out-of-market messes, just every minute of every game.

The deal takes you to (and through) Messi's Instagram account, where you'll do the ol' link in bio trick. Which, conveniently, takes you to this link.
