Razer Anansi keyboard wants to level up MMO gamers

Peripheral and accessories company Razer is hoping to tap into the competitive nature of MMO gamers this holiday season with the Razer Anansi MMO Gaming Keyboard. Following on the heels of the wireless Naga Epic mouse, the Anansi expands on the 12 programmable keys of a typical desktop keyboard to offer more than 100 programmable keys, on-the-fly macro recording, seven thumb modifier keys, and backlighting that can be customized through a range of 16.7 million colors.

“The Razer Anansi gaming keyboard is the new weapon of choice for MMO gamers,” said RazerUSA president Robert Krakoff, in a statement. “Let’s face it, the regular keyboard that came with your PC was designed and built for typing, not for MMO gaming. [..] The Razer Anansi allows you to use every spell, ability or custom macro in your arsenal—both instantly and in complete comfort.”

The Anansi features seven thumb modifier keys below the spacebar that enables players to use ever combination of modifier keys (shift, alt, and control) with a single keystroke. The keyboard features over 100 fully programmable Hyperresponse keys with and on-the-fly macro recording capability and supports up to 20 gaming profiles with single-button profile switching. The keyboard features an optimized matrix for minimal ghosting, an optional Gaming Mode de-activation of the Windows key, and—of course—full customizable backlighting.

The Anansi should be available in Europe and the United States in December for suggested prices of €99.99 and US$99.99. Pre-orders should be available soon.
