BattleBit Remastered: what are Squad Points and how to use them

Most of the time in BattleBit Remastered, you’ll probably be more focused on just trying to survive than anything else. This massive first-person shooter takes all the best elements of the Battlefield franchise, such as the giant, destructible maps, class system, and a strong emphasis on teamwork within squads.

If you’ve been running with squads, you might have noticed yourself earning something called Squad Points as you play. These points are shared among your entire squad, and building them up is a great way to turn the tides of battle. That is, if you know how to use them. Here’s everything you need to know about Squad Points in BattleBit Remastered.

Squad Points are a system that rewards squads for working as, well, a squad in BattleBit. By performing actions such as targeting objectives, attacking objectives others on your squad have targeted, healing teammates, having a teammate spawn on you, killing enemies, and generally any cooperative action you will Squad Points for your entire squad. You can track how many Squad Points your team currently has on the very bottom left corner of the screen.

Once your squad has accumulated enough points and wants to spend them, anyone on the squad can do so — not just the squad leader.

To use them, press the middle mouse button to open the build menu. Your options here include Ground Deployables which are various forms of walls you can build, Supply Drops that simply drop ammo, bandages, and weapons for your squad at a target location, and Rally Points (which are not available in all game modes) that do need to be placed by your squad leader and act as a new spawn location for your squad.

Because your squad shares a pool of these points, and each item has a different cost associated with them, it is important that you coordinate with your team on which items you need and when to make sure you don’t run out in a critical moment. Thankfully, so long as you’re playing as a unit, Squad Points are fairly easy to come by, so you won’t be running low for too long.

Will Payday 3 get an offline mode?
Character posing for Payday 3 promo art.

It's no secret to anyone who attempted to play Payday 3 near its launch that it had more than a few issues. This co-op shooter is built on the idea of you and three friends teaming up to pull off various heists to collect money, level up, and unlock new skills -- and then repeat it all on higher difficulty levels. However, due to some major server issues, the majority of people haven't been able to find matches at all, leading to a major outcry for an offline mode since there's no way to interact with the game otherwise. As of now, the game remains an always-online experience. Fortunately, developer Starbreeze Studios has been quick to respond to player feedback, but do its plans include an offline mode?
Is Payday 3 getting an offline mode?

At a developer live stream on September 25, Almir Listo, global brand director for Starbreeze, said there are currently no plans to create an offline mode for Payday 3. Listo further explained the server issues that had been occurring so far, stating that "Payday 3 matchmaking infrastructure has not performed as tested and expected. Matchmaking software encountered an unforeseen error which made it unable to handle the massive influx of players. The issue caused an unrecoverable situation for Starbreeze's matchmaking partners." The team is evaluating all solutions in both the short and long term, including seeking out new matchmaking partners.

The best skills to research first in Payday 3
Players run away in Payday 3

While there are no classes to pick between in Payday 3, you do still have complete control over how your character plays and what role they will have in any given heist. The obvious changes will be in your weapons and equipment loadouts, but it is in the skill system where you are really free to personalize your masked criminal. You begin the game with two unlocked naturally, but quickly see that there are dozens more to unlock and try out within various categories. You're not able to simply pick any one that looks good and give it a try, though, but must instead research them before you're able to unlock them. Considering this will take a few missions at least with you and your friends, here are the ones you should prioritize researching first in Payday 3.
How skills and buffs work

Researching a skill is mostly passive, but you do need to select which skill you want to be working on at any time -- you can't research them all at once. If you don't pick one, the game will automatically apply research to the first skill in the list, which likely isn't going to be what you want. To choose which skill you want to research, just highlight it in the skill menu and choose "Research" to mark it as the skill your points will go toward.

All weapons in Payday 3 and how to unlock them
Robbers shoot guns in Payday 3.

No one should walk into a robbery in Payday 3 without a reliable gun in their back pocket. Sure, there are plenty of skills and tools to help you and your gang pull off many jobs with no one being the wiser, but mistakes happen. And when they do, you'll be glad to have some firepower on your side. You won't be picking up or finding weapons on the map in Payday 3, and instead must rely completely on which weapons you have equipped in your loadout before starting a heist. You will only start off with a single assault rifle and pistol to your name, but there is a nice selection of shotguns, revolvers, and marksman rifles to add to your kit. Here are all the guns you can unlock in Payday 3 and how.
All weapons in Payday 3

Guns in Payday 3 are all first unlocked by reaching a certain level. Levels are simply gained by completing heists and objectives in the game, so every match you play will contribute toward your overall level. Once you reach a threshold where a new weapon becomes available, you can head into the Vendors menu and purchase t with your cash so they become available when building your loadout. Here's every weapon you get in the order you naturally unlock them:
