Can you use PSVR2 on PC?

There are now a decent number of VR headsets on the market, and the newest headset on the block, the PlayStation VR2, is one of the most powerful in terms of technology. This upgrade from the original PSVR makes many improvements over the original design, including trimming down the necessary cables to a single USB-C. Being the only headset on the market made by a console maker, many PC gamers may be wondering if the PSVR2 would be a worthy investment if they could also use it on their PCs.

If you’re mainly a PC gamer, or have yet to get your hands on a PlayStation 5, and are interested in the PSVR2, here’s whether or not it will work on other hardware.

Does PSVR2 work on PC?

The short and not-so-sweet answer is no. The PSVR2 is not made to work on any PCs, and only connects to your PS5 to run. The PSVR2 uses the power of the PS5 to run, with no internal power like the Meta Quest 2, meaning it is reliant on the console to function. The switch from proprietary cables and boxes that tied the PSVR to the PS4 to a USB-C cable gave some hope that the next-generation headset might allow for PC connectivity, however, this was not to be. While it is possible that Sony may eventually update the headset, or create a PC-specific platform on which to allow you to play PSVR2 on your PC, this is very unlikely. For now, unless you have a PS5, the PSVR2 won’t be of any use to you.

Backward compatibility was a bit rocky for Sony with the PlayStation 3 generation going into the PS4. Thankfully, that was resolved moving from PS4 to PS5, but that wasn't the only new piece of hardware Sony released. The PlayStation VR2 is, as the name implies, the second generation of the dedicated PlayStation virtual reality headset. Despite taking many design and features from other popular headsets, such as the Meta Quest 2, PSVR2 is made only to work with your PS5. You might assume that this new, more powerful headset would be backward compatible with all the original PSVR titles, but that may not be a safe bet. If you have a library of original PSVR games you want to play on PSVR2, here's what you need to know.
Is PSVR2 backward compatible with PSVR?

No, Sony confirmed prior to the PSVR2's launch that it would not be able to play any of your PSVR games, saying the disparity between the two headset's power and technical differences made this impossible. Whatever the reason, this was a big disappointment to those who supported the PSVR and accumulated a library of titles for it they wanted to bring forward.

You can still get a Thunder Shotgun in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. Here’s how
Fortnite characters in a city.

Fortnite has received plenty of exciting new weapons in Chapter 4 Season 2, and in typical fashion, Epic has also vaulted some of last season's weapons to clean up the loot pool. Among the weapons vaulted for Season 2 is the Thunder Shotgun -- but weirdly, it can still be obtained, as it appears Epic possibly overlooked one NPC who drops it.

Anyone who wants to score the Thunder Shotgun in Season 2 can head over to Frenzy Fields and look for the NPC named Sunflower who walks around the farm. Simply eliminate her and pick up the weapon she drops. It's unclear if this is actually something Epic missed, or if the team just simply didn't want to bother changing up Sunflower's loot drops. Either way, it's currently the only way to obtain the Thunder Shotgun.
