The Eufy Edge Security System offers better recognition chops and solar-powered cameras

Amazon recently revealed several new security cameras, and now Eufy has decided to join in on the fun. The manufacturer has officially launched the Edge Security System, which includes the eufyCam 3 cameras along with a central hub that offers improved AI for more accurate identification of people, animals, and other objects that wander into its field of view.

The entire setup is powered by the new HomeBase 3. This is where the self-learning AI is housed, allowing the system to accurately catalog different motion events into the proper folder. For example, the Edge Security System will be able to tell you if the person approaching your home is a friend, family member, or stranger, then send you the proper alert and catalog the video for future reference.

HomeBase 3 comes with 16GB of internal storage, although you can expand that up to 16TB with an external drive if needed. All told, Eufy claims that’s enough space to save up to 60 years of footage. And unlike many security systems, you don’t need a monthly subscription to store or access your data.

The Edge Security System bundle is available today and includes the HomeBase 3 and two eufyCam 3 cameras for $550. Future updates will allow the Edge Security System to support other Eufy products (such as the Video Smart Lock, Video Doorbell Dual, and Floodlight Cam 2 Pro).

For now, you’ll have to settle for the eufyCam 3 — which is a surprisingly well-appointed camera. Not only does it offer 4K image capture and infrared and color night vision, but it comes with a built-in battery and integrated solar panels to help keep it charged. There’s also a two-way audio system and a 100-lumen spotlight.

The existing Wyze Cam Floodlight was already an easy recommendation for shoppers on a budget, as it features 2600-lumen LEDs, an expandable microSD card slot, and a 130-degree viewing angle for less than $100. Wyze is making several changes with the newly launched Wyze Cam Floodlight v2, and it offers big improvements over its predecessor, yet carries a smaller price tag.

The Wyze Cam Floodlight v2 doesn't look much different (the central camera unit has been streamlined, though it's still flanked by two massive lights), but it features plenty of enhanced specs. The big selling point is its new 2K camera, which allows it to capture vibrant images at all times of the day, along with color night vision when the sun goes down. Wyze also improved its viewing angle from 130 degrees to 160 degrees, providing additional coverage for large properties.

Eufy shows off four security cameras and an upcoming robot vacuum

Eufy is a big name in the smart home space, and it had plenty of cool gadgets to show off at CES 2024. Along with giving consumers a closer look at four recently launched security cameras, Eufy revealed the X10 Pro Omni robot vacuum and mop, which looks to be an affordable alternative to flagships from Roborock and Ecovacs.

The X10 Pro Omni doesn't make any huge innovations in the world of robot vacuums. Most of its features we've already seen on other robots, such as its ability to empty its dustbin, clean its mop, then dry it to prevent the accumulation of mildew. It also boasts an avoidance system to ensure it's not bumping into any shoes, toys, or other items that have accidentally been left in its path. And while its 8,000 Pa of suction is impressive, it's a number a handful of other robots have already hit.
